Xanathar's Lost Notes, DM's Guild, D&D

Examining Xanathar’s Lost Notes To Everything Else for 5E D&D

After a week of exceedingly bad health followed by a week of recovery I have returned, undeterred from my task of bringing to you honest reviews of the homebrew content so popular among gamers of all generations. Today we will be reviewing the little gem known as Xanathar’s Lost Notes To Everything Else for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons, available on the DM’s Guild. I’ve had this little badboy in my hands since December, and what is significant is this one I sought out on my own. This D&D content comes from the minds of Ruty Rutenberg, Lysa Chen, Will Doyle, James Haeck, James Introcaso, Rich Lescouflair, Shawn Merwin, Cindy Moore, and the one-of-a-kind Satine Phoenix. And Nerdarchy has an exclusive coupon code for when this book finds it’s way into your shopping cart too.

We can thank Wizards of the Coast senior director Nathan Stewart and franchise creative director Mike Mearls for revealing the next fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons book during the Fireside Chat on the D&D Twitch channel Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. And today we got the official announcement from WotC about Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes!

Kickstarter Korner for Feb. 2018, Week 1

Each week during the Quests & Adventures live chat, Saturday at 2 p.m. eastern, Nerdarchists Dave and Ted and Nate the Nerdarch hang out live with fans from the Nerdarchy YouTube channel. It’s a chance to share announcements and news, answer questions from the live chat and generally just hang out and talk nerdy with the Nerdarchy community.

In the description of each weekly video, Nerdarchist Ted compiles a list and links to all the videos and website content from the week. But he also shares a selection of cool Kickstarter campaigns. As an avid Kickstarter supporter, he’s happy to share his favorite RPG and gaming-related Kickstarters with you, the Nerdarchy community. Enjoy!

Rot From Within

Rot From Within D&D Adventure Trilogy Review

Salutations, nerds! Over the course of the past three weeks my Saturday group and I have had the pleasure of running the Rot From Within trilogy, an adventure trilogy for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons designed by James Introcaso, Lysa Chen and Cindy Moore.

Part one is called Fester and Burn, part two is Rotting Roots, and part three is Putting the Dead to Rest and all three of these D&D adventures can be found on the DM’s Guild for a paltry $2.99 each (though I believe Fester and Burn is currently marked down to $2.24 if that sweetens the pot for anyone).

Out of the Box D&D Encounters, series 2, #31 – “Beardtoberfest”

Out of the Box introduction

A question that comes up a lot has to do with something we, as gamers, take for granted. Games. I cannot recall the number of times I have heard the question “how can I give my players games and puzzles they can do in a (insert community)?” The answer is actually pretty simple, especially for those Dungeon Masters who may live in more rural settings. Community fairs and festivals are a great resource for mundane competitions of all kinds. When one takes simple competitions like tests of strength, accuracy and endurance into consideration, the variations become endless. Consider the games presented in any carnival midway, or competitions like those associated with lumberjacks or “mountain men”. You’ll have a WIDE array of games easily replicated in a medieval society.

Secret Goals in RPGs and Why You Need To Use Them Now

When playing a roleplaying game in a group, sometimes you want the spotlight to shine down and highlight a character moment. This opportunity for high drama and fun can be greatly improved and made larger by having it pay off character and player motivations. One of the best ways to do this is with secret goals. These missions and quests discussed between an individual player and the Game Masters or Storytellers are ways to entertain the whole table with surprise flourishes to heighten the stakes. I’m going to explain more about why you should use this technique more in games.

The D&D Chimera – Randomized!

Chimera – the spawn of powerful beast of legend, a creation of a mad wizard or poor fool’s curse by a demonic prince. However a chimera comes into existence we can all agree the three-headed Dungeons & Dragons creature with the tenacity of a dragon, stubbornness of a ram and ferocity of a lion is pretty freaking cool. What could be better right? What about the petrifying gaze of a basilisk, the strong back of a mule and the rust monsters ability to corrode the tools of the enemy?

This article brings you another randomized fifth edition D&D monster.

Flavour Shots: D&D 5e Paladin Shrines That Use Lay On Hands

Flavour Shots are short descriptions of game artefacts and phenomena for use by Dungeon Masters, Game Masters and Storytellers in their games. Feel free to drag and drop these into your own games, and modify to suit. Let us know if you end up using them. Some will be portals to other realms, some will be magic items, others will be monster encounters. This time, it’s fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons paladins, what it means to Lay on Hands and different ways to use this iconic class feature.

Hello nerds! Nerditor Doug here with a bit of content to share from the Nerdarchy community. Viewers of our Nerdarchy live chats, RPG Crate-sponsored Adventures on the Open Road, Marvel Superheroes Roleplaying Game live plays and more are familiar with Fraginator.
