Behind the Scenes of Untraditionally Arcane — an All Wizard Campaign for 5E D&D
It is time for a new campaign on the Nerdarchy Live YouTube channel with the Chaos Crew. One of the players tossed out the idea of doing an all class party and we were off and running. Untraditionally Arcane is a fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign featuring a party of wizards. The campaign premiere on Jan. 29, 2021 at 8 p.m. eastern streamed at Nerdarchy Live with future episodes streaming the last Friday of each month for viewers to watch live.
Shining a Light on Darklands Rising Miniatures from WizKids
A new set of prepainted miniatures from our lovely friends over at WizKids is set for Feb. 3 release. Pathfinder Battles: Darklands Rising has some amazing miniatures I am excited to add to my roleplaying miniatures collection as well as for use in my personal Dungeons & Dragons games. Darklands Rising fantasy miniatures are designed for the Pathfinder roleplaying game and features creatures from the deepest depths of Golarion but certainly make a terrific addition to your minis and battle grids for any fantasy tabletop RPG.
Take Shelter from the Frostmaiden Inside Wizkids 5E D&D Icewind Dale Papercraft Sets
As the world of terrain for tabletop roleplaying gaming continues to improve it is cool to see all the directions it is going. I remember doing punch out kits, usually in a woodlike material back in the day. Now the wonderful people over at WizKids have taken this concept and made houses perfect for gaming terrain. D&D Icons of The Realms Miniatures: Icewind Dale: Rime of The Frostmaiden – The Lodge and Ten Towns Papercraft Sets became part of my collection and I’m excited to craft these super sturdy cardboard buildings to use in my fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons games.
Big RPG Plans for WizKids Unpainted Miniatures Wave 13
WizKids has been putting out quality miniatures for quite some time. I can recall their releases during the third edition Dungeons & Dragons era and how they changed what we were doing at the gaming table. For many years I’ve purchased their prepainted miniatures line and loved them. They are great for any who have no desire or inclination to paint miniatures for their tabletop roleplaying game experiences.
Improve Your RPG Experiences with Random Generators
The other day I was playing Dungeons & Dragons and the Dungeon Master started describing an NPC casting a spell. Rather than say the NPC begins an incantation he instead began performing an evocative chant that really brought me into the scene and the game. Needless to say I was very impressed. Not only had I thought this DM had seriously prepped the encounter but I thought we had overstepped what we should have been doing at the time.
Minions of San-Tac-Laus to Help Deliver 5E D&D Holiday Cheer
About this time last year I made a holiday beholder for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons based on the chubby bearded man who is a symbol of the holiday season. But I knew the story would not end there. After all if the jolly man in the red has his staff of elves who really look and act like really short gnomes then San-Tac-Laus should have his own set of 5E D&D minions to work with as well.
Give the Gift of 5E D&D Holiday Magic Items with Hero Forge
Hello friends and fellow gamers. As the holiday season rolls upon us no matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year encourages us to think of others and give gifts to our friends and family. With this in mind I have made some fun new magic items inspired by our friends over at Hero Forge, the premiere customized tabletop miniatures and statuettes creation tool I love and probably spend way too much time with.

Crafting your 5E D&D Gelatinous Cubes Encounter
Hello and greetings. I apologize if I tricked you into thinking this was about fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons table preparation. Nope! this is another crafting idea from the mind of Nerdarchist Ted. I was at the store looking for a new cat tree. Despite not seeing the tree made of carpet for my cats to destroy in the clearance aisle I saw a game that looked like it used tiny plastic cubes. I instantly thought of gelatinous cubes. It was worth investigating as a potential new fun crafting project for my 5E D&D games.
Brave the Dangers of Fangs and Talons with WizKids Miniatures
I have said it before and I will say it again — I love miniatures. Well, WizKids is back and they have brought the monsters! Releasing the second week of November D&D Icons of the Realms: Fangs and Talons offers some amazing monsters of all shapes and sizes. This also includes one of my new favorite miniatures.
Find Adventure Over, Under or Across WizKids 4D Settings: Stone Bridge
When I look for affordable scenery and setting terrain for my tabletop roleplaying games the 4D line by WizKids is really taking off. There are so many great pieces and sets now available and even more on the horizon. The 4D line recently released the Settings: Stone Bridge.
Play Your Halloween 5E D&D Game as an Undead Character with Hero Forge
I have played more characters than I care to try and count in the decades I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons. Plenty of those campaigns featured fun and interesting character concepts and with Halloween right around the corner I thought I would approach the idea of playing an undead adventurer for fifth edition D&D. This undead character might not be for a main campaign, but I could totally envision playing such a character in a fun 5E D&D one shot. But if your Dungeon Master and group leans more into story and you have a good character idea then why not allow an undead adventurer into the party?
Adding Randomness to Your RPG
The controlled chaos of randomly rolled characters or randomly created events within tabletop roleplaying games appeals to many gamers. Even the fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide contains a nice chunk of random tables and charts to create NPCs, treasure or campaign events. But sometimes you crave even more RPG randomness. Allow me to present some system agnostic books to add some randomness to your RPG game.
