Zoo Mafia was born from a simple misunderstanding that sparked a big idea. During a pre-game chat, I mentioned something about a zoo membership. Robin, quick-witted as ever, responded, “I 
know you didn’t say this, but I heard Zoo Mafia.” That one comment stuck. Dave latched onto the concept, and the creative gears started turning. Now, two years later, Zoo Mafia has grown into an incredible tabletop RPG with countless one-shots and campaigns that have graced our channel.
What Is Zoo Mafia RPG?
Zoo Mafia is a narrative-driven tabletop role-playing game powered by the Apocalypse system. Players embody cunning animals navigating a world of crime, intrigue, and high-stakes drama. By day, they’re ordinary zoo animals. By night, they transform into sharply dressed gangsters, engaging in heists, rivalries, and power plays.
The game offers two unique styles:
- The Covert Dual-Life Game: Keep criminal activities hidden from humans while balancing a life at the zoo.
- The Anthropomorphic Animal World: Fully animal-run societies with sprawling cities and no humans, allowing for expansive exploration and storytelling.
With flexible stats like Awareness, Magnetism, and Moxie, Zoo Mafia challenges players to blend strategy, humor, and creativity as they claw their way to the top of the criminal underworld.
Dive into the Playbooks
In Zoo Mafia, your playbook defines your character’s role in the gang. While duplicate playbooks can exist, the unique specialties make each one shine:
- The Driver: A moxie-fueled daredevil excelling in high-speed getaways, bootlegging, and, surprisingly, dynamite.
- The Safecracker: The sly expert in breaking locks, bypassing security, and opening doors—literal and metaphorical.
- The Button: Precision is their game. This sharpshooter takes the lead when things get violent.
- The Goon: Wild and untamed, the Goon dominates melee combat and can take a beating like no other.
- The Grifter: Magnetism drives this silver-tongued schemer, perfect for making deals and forming alliances.
- The Lookout: With keen Awareness, they ensure no threat goes unnoticed, keeping the crew one step ahead.

Zoo Mafia thrives on its vibrant criminal ecosystem, populated by iconic bosses like:
- Bunny Malone: The shrewd femme fatale who plays the long game.
- Carlos Hambino: A pragmatic warthog running his empire with balance and strategy.

- Owl Capone: A nocturnal mastermind of ruthless efficiency.
