Pocket Full of NPCs for 5E D&D — The Ulfhednar

Salutations, nerds! I keep a pocket full of fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons NPCs I can reach for whenever I need to stall characters or they’ve made a request I wasn’t specifically ready for. Honestly, pulling characters out of the ether is a strong point of mine but I know for a lot of people this isn’t the case. And so, Pocket Full of NPCs gives 5E D&D Dungeon Masters a variety of characters you can pull off the shelf whenever you happen to need them.

Crazy RPG Antics and Great Charisma on Display with The General Adventuring Company

Sometime ago Nerdarchist Dave interviewed a few members of The General Adventuring Company. Either I failed a Wisdom saving throw or they collectively passed a Charisma (Persuasion) check. However it happened, after Critical Role finished their second campaign I had an open game slot to watch. While I did watch Exandria Unlimited I still had more hours in my week to fill.

Play Your Next 5E D&D Game as a Master Thinker

Over at Nerdarchy the YouTube channel Nerdarchists Dave and Ted bend their mental energies towards coming up with a fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons character capable of outthinking, outwitting and out-and-out outclassing others in mental matters. Strength, Dexterity, Consitution: A Master Thinker craves not these things. For this 5E D&D character it’s all about Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Let’s get into it.

D&D Ideas — Apocalypse

Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is apocalypse, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of apocalypse in Dark Paths: The Chained One a secretive order of monks loses control of the mystical chains binding a terrible being of malediction and if things aren’t set aright can apocalypse be far behind? You can get the Nerdarchy Newsletter delivered to your inbox each week, along with updates and info on how to game with Nerdarchy plus snag a FREE GIFT by signing up here.

Top 10 Most Viewed 5E D&D Homebrew Races

I’ve explored all the schools of magic, subclasses for every class, feats and several other categories of content for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons homebrew material found at D&D Beyond. This time I’m looking at homebrew races for 5E D&D. Ready for this? There’s currently over 36,960 of these at DDB! We get a kick out of checking out the 5E D&D content folks come up with and sharing their homebrew  creations. (There’s lots of these posts whether for homebrew subclasses, magic items, spells, feats and more floating around for the curious.) Not for nothing but the video from Nerdarchy the YouTube channel down below gets into homebrew Martial Archetypes for fighters and clever character builders might find this particular class extra useful when it comes to a concept that emerges in this post. Let’s get into it.

Study Up on 5E D&D Magic — Enchantment Spells

Salutations, nerds! It’s time to comb over Enchantment magic for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons and I’ve got to be honest with you, it doesn’t settle particularly well with me. Necromancy always gets the bad rap for being the evil magic for controlling dead bodies and then you’ve got enchanters over there manipulating living people. I have way less of a problem with someone raising my corpse than using me as a puppet while I’m alive. Which isn’t to say I don’t think people should play with this 5E D&D school of magic — characters do evil stuff sometimes. I just want to acknowledge the skeeviness of this before we continue. Of course it also matters how you use enchantment magic. Some uses are going to be worse than others, or better. For instance, there are also a lot of buffs in the enchantment school. Who doesn’t like buffs? Shall we, then?

In this post I’m checking out homebrew psychic spells for 5E D&D. You’ll find over 1,820 of these at DDB. We get a kick out of checking out the 5E D&D content folks come up with and sharing their homebrew creations. (There’s lots of these posts whether for homebrew subclasses, magic items, spells, feats and more floating around for the curious.) Let’s get into it.

D&D Ideas — Force & Psychic

Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is force & psychic, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of force & psychic in Mirror, Mirror a forlorn Hearth Hope creature’s psychic feedback assaults the living with images of their own past failures while in Mirrors of the Soul a mystical force shifts adventurers between the real world and one of shadowy illusions… You can get the Nerdarchy Newsletter delivered to your inbox each week, along with updates and info on how to game with Nerdarchy plus snag a FREE GIFT by signing up here.

Character Death in 5E D&D is Boring!

Character death is a staple of fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons lore. In dark fantasy settings like Wildemount, Dark Sun and Ravenloft, character death is an ever-present looming danger. But sometimes character death is lame, or worse — boring. Today I’m sharing some thoughts and ideas on how we can mix up death in our 5E D&D games to keep things new and fresh (no pun intended).
