RPG Ideas — Fame
Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is fame, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of fame fantasy adventurers who take to the streets (or apocalyptic wastelands YMMV) can win fame and fortune in the magical motorcycle racing circuit! Play Your Next 5E D&D Game as a Lizard Wizard
Over at Nerdarchy the YouTube channel when Nerdarchists Dave and Ted started with the environment of a swamp to create a fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons character who combines harnessing the darker elements and power of the swamp with a lizard wizard. Next step was to decide who would be in this swamp. This Lizard Wizard 5E D&D Character Build Guide leans into the idea of decay and the fetid nature of the swamp a bit more than our original lizard wizard concept. Let’s get into it.

Wizards of the Coast’s Reveals Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel Details
The fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons team graciously invited me to participate in a press briefing recently all about the announcement of the next book release in 2022. Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel is an anthology of adventures in the style of Candlekeep Mysteries and Tales from the Yawning Portal centered around a fantastic location within the Ethereal Plane. Like its forebears the 14 adventures contained in this book can be used as standalone quests, strung together to form a campaign with the mysterious titular city at its heart or used whatever way works best for a 5E D&D Dungeon Master and the other players in their group. Let’s get into it.
Journey Over the Troll Bridge and Keep Magick City from Falling into the Lava Below
Hot on the heels of an amazing new tabletop roleplaying game one of the most creative people we know came up with another super fun RPG and it’s available right now. Creature Curation’s Brian Colin put together a brand new game called Over the Troll Bridge, a minimalist OSR (Old School Renaissance) inspired RPG for 1-7 players. Brian developed the game with his kids Wyatt and Ruby, with art by Carey Drake.

RPG Ideas — Origins
Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is origins, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of origins the very first module we put together through collaboration with another creator is Lord of Dead Dreams. When we asked our Patreon supporters what module they’d most like us to revisit and expand on this one came about in first place by a wide margin. We’re dreaming up a new nightmare for the near future so keep an eye out and don’t sleep on this one! Scaling Up Your D&D Game to Giant Proportions
Giants have been a part of Dungeons & Dragons since the beginning of the game. I have always struggled with giants. They did not come up a lot early in my game play and when I watched the old ’80s D&D cartoon giants were much more massive than they are listed as now. But whether giants are just over 10 feet tall or over 100 feet tall they are still ginormous and difficult to interact with in D&D.
While You Wait for Digimon Survive and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Check Out Fantastic Adventures for Animon Story
If you vibe with my flavor of nerddom then you follow video games — especially monster taming video games like Pokemon and Digimon Story. With the recent announcements of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as well as Digimon Survive I’m more than eager to jump back into these science fantasy worlds! Sadly, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won’t release until late this year and Digimon Survive has no firm release date at present. However, I need something to scratch the monster taming itch and if you’ve read my post on Animon Story then you know there is a certain tabletop roleplaying game that gives me my fix.
How Often Should Dragons Show Up in Dungeons & Dragons?
I have been playing tabletop roleplaying games for over 30 years at this point. I can honestly say there have been long stretches of time and numerous games played with no dragon encounters. Today I ask the dreaded question, “How often should you face a dragon?”

Let’s get into it.
How Did Your RPG Character Learn Their Skills?
Salutations, nerds! Your character sheet has a list of things you can do and after you’ve been playing your character for a while you have a pretty good idea of the skills they’re good at and the ones you really don’t want the Game Master to ask for checks. Something that might never come up at the table but will absolutely inform getting into your character’s head space and roleplaying is how you learned those skills in the first place.
