Friday, May 18, 2017 was the Wizards of the Coast release of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes to specific FLGS and digitally through D&D Beyond. This is the newest D&D book from The Wizards of the Coast team. Wide release for this 5E D&D book will be on May 29.

The folks over at the PR company for the WOTC team, 360 Public Relations, is always good about getting us early copies so we can show them off to the fans. We always give them away. It’s still nice to get the free 5E D&D swag even if we don’t keep it most of the time. Speaking of which you can get in on a give-away running to May 31 for one of five copies of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes.

The standard edition and special edition covers of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes both feature the iconic archmage with incredible art.

Nerdarchist Ted and myself generally preorder from Amazon for the regular D&D books, but run out to one of the local FLGS that aren’t super close to us for those sweet special edition covers.

I didn’t get to go through the book until we actually did the flipthrough over on the ‘tubes. When I did I kind of just started spot reading the monsters. The art is really fantastic inside the book. There is plenty of it. I might go as far as to say it’s worth it for the art alone.

For the astral dreadnought entry alone I was super stoked. Ever since that Manual of the Planes cover for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons I’ve been in love with this beauty. The incredible art by Jeff Easley makes it I believe one of my favorite D&D book covers.

I don’t think we really get any new monsters per se, but tons of baddies from previous editions of Dungeons & Dragons. Some of our favorites are back like archdevils, the grey render, elder elementals, and tons of things your warlocks could serve.

My name is Dave Friant I've been gaming off and on for over 27 years. But here is the thing it's always been a part of my life I've kept secret and hidden away. I've always been ashamed of the stigma that gaming and my other nerdy and geeky pursuits summon forth. Recently I decided screw it! This is who I am the world be damned. From now on I'm gonna be a geek, nerd, or however folks want to judge me and just enjoy life. Currently one of my greatest joys is introducing my 13 yr old son to table top RPG's.
