Gifts are wonderful things no matter how you look at them. If you give them you get to spread joy. If you receive them you get to receive that joy. I apologize but I have a lot to talk about from several different perspectives on this topic. Dave and I go into some depth about gifts in the game during the live chat so I will not labor long on that point, just know that it can be a fun way to add features or magic items into your game.
One gift I am throwing out there, to those willing, Dave and I still have spots at our table for D&D in a Castle this July. Previously I had said that my table was sold out, but one player had a conflict of schedule and that means the opportunity opens up for you. D&D in a Castle is a fantastic experience and both Dave and I are looking to tailor our games to what the players are looking for, but we have plenty of great Ideas in motion.
I received a gift for the recent holidays and I thought given its proximity to D&D I thought it worth sharing. Monsters and Mythical Creatures from around the world is full of mythical creatures and cryptids that have been claimed to exist throughout the ages. A bunch of them already exist in D&D but many of them are something I have never heard before. Each entry is short and many have pictures so that you can show off what the being looks like as you terrorize your players. If you want to grab a copy of this book on Amazon and help the channel you can grab a copy: Here My little gift will be periodically throughout the year I will be making stat blocks for some of the ones that inspire me so be on the lookout for those blog entries on nerdarchy.com
Yearly traditions are fun. Be it giving Birthday gifts or holiday year end gifts it is a nice little thing. But with the stress of life, I will throw out that at times it is important to take care of yourself and a gift to yourself is not a bad thing. While it is not D&D or even RPG advice I feel that over the years that we are a Nerdarchy family and I care about all our fans so I just felt it was necessary to make sure that you, the one reading this, are taking care of yourself. Stealing a phrase from my friend over at MTD – You Matter. So just remember that!
