Mag of Holding Haunts Your 5E Games with Gothic Horror Just In Time for Halloween
D&D Ideas -- Vacations

The life of an adventurer can feel like hitting a stone wall. Some monsters, townsfolk and maybe even fellow adventurers can come across like they have rocks for brains. I am sure I could assault you with some more rock related jokes but I will spare you for now. Instead I wanted to take a moment and share some great overlap.

A rock solid 5E D&D Druid Circle

Over at Nerdarchy Live, our second Youtube Channel, we have been playing some great games on Tuesday nights. A few weeks back we played session one of our newest campaign, Ashes of Ardor. The truly great thing about this game is all the players are playing Nerdarchy created subclasses.

I am playing a Circle of the Stone Gaze druid. This amazing subclass comes as part of the Garden of Statuary module we created for Patreon supporters and you can now find here in the website store. This Druid Circle focuses on the creatures who can petrify other creatures. These particular druids have a fondness for and connection with these bizarre monstrosities.

I am having a blast not only with a great cast but also a fun new approach to the awesome druid class for D&D. If you already have Garden of Statuary or you pick it up and play this amazing druid I would love to hear your feedback. Wanting to dive in as heavily as I could on this concept I started off playing a variant human to get that precious feat.

It seems I enjoy a particular feat as I have chosen it for many characters for various reasons. Ritualist allows you to do so many different things depending on your D&D class and spell selection choices. Ironically I also choose a very magical themed character in a world where magic users are not trusted. Oops!

Anyway I took the ritualist feat mainly to get the find familiar spell. There’s no official animal companion focused Druid Circle yet so this is the best solution. For a familiar I have a tiny lizard, which is of course a blind basilisk my character found. So far I have not found a use for other ritual spells but I am sure they will come in handy before the campaign reaches an end. I also do not fear making mechanical choices for story and thematic choices.

Before I let you go, if you are playing a Circle of the Stone Gaze druid or anything else with a stony theme to it you might be looking for a great gemstone dice set to match. Our awesome friends over at Easy Roller Dice have a really great selection to choose from, which you can discover here. Once you fill up your cart with your first set of dice or your one millionth set of dice along with other awesome dice accessories you’ll find make sure to use the promo code DDSPECIAL for 25% off your first Easy Roller Dice purchase.

*Featured image — The mysterious litholesca shifts through various forms in its long lifespan, though only the very oldest of them develop any sort of sentient Intelligence. Through their larval form litholesca take on the shape of a chandelisk, growing to a form similar to a basilisk in older years and a full on litholesca only once it has obtained a century of age or so. This creature along with other stony monsters and stone themed content comes from our Garden of Statuary module.
