In this 9-minute video on Nerdarchy the YouTube channel Nerdarchists Dave and Ted explore fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons Eldritch Invocations for warlocks. They specifically look at The Hexblade Otherworldly Patron.

The conversation begins with Dave and Ted sharing the inspiration for the video, which lay in the comments from an earlier video about the best overall Eldritch Invocations for combat. In fact those comments spawned several videos like the one in this very post as well as another about exploration.

The Hexblade is perhaps the most popular Otherworldly Patron and lots of ideas come to mind when thinking about this character option in depth (or any part of 5E D&D really).

Dave explains how he expected some pushback from Ted on the curated list of top Eldritch Invocations for The Hexblade but as you’ll see in the video the discussion panned out just fine. Because The Hexblade is so focused on combat damage several of the choices key off the hex spell, the Hexblade’s Curse feature or both. It’s just too good not to boost even further!

As an aside Eldritch Invocations are a terrific way to customize the warlock class with new options. This concept is explored further in our series on Excavating Unearthed Arcana that Didn’t Make the Cut, particularly Part 3 covering Unearthed Arcana: Warlock & Wizard. For an example of how Eldritch Invocation options for specific Otherworldly Patrons really punch up a warlock’s repertoire you can take a look at post here on the website with our own New Eldritch Invocations for the Norn Warlock.

What are your top picks for Eldritch Invocations for The Hexblade warlock in 5E D&D? Do you know any cool interactions you’ve discovered? Got any interesting experiences to share from times your Eldritch Invocation choices made a big impact on The Hexblade in your games? Let us know in the comments and as always, stay nerdy!
