Kickstarter Korner for June 2018, Week 1

Using Fantasy Tropes and Player Expectations in D&D
D&D Character Creation is More Than Numbers and Abilities

Each week during the Quests & Adventures live chat, Saturday at 2 p.m. eastern, Nerdarchists Dave and Ted and Nate the Nerdarch hang out live with fans from the Nerdarchy YouTube channel. It’s a chance to share announcements and news, answer questions from the live chat and generally just hang out and talk nerdy with the Nerdarchy community.

In the description of each weekly video, Nerdarchist Ted compiles a list and links to all the videos and website content from the week. But he also shares a selection of cool Kickstarter campaigns. As an avid Kickstarter supporter, he’s happy to share his favorite RPG and gaming-related Kickstarters with you, the Nerdarchy community. Enjoy!

Protip: One of the segments during this weekend’s Stream of Many Eyes was a terrific roundtable discussion with host Anna Prosser-Robinson. She talked with Chris Perkins, Mike Mearls, Kate Welch and Jeremy Crawford about the upcoming new adventure Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and D&D in general. One of the topics that emerged, that Nerdarchists Dave and Ted touched on in this weeks Quests & Adventures live chat, is the idea of crafted each adventure to give DM’s not only grand quests for players but making sure there’s variety in each one for wide audiences. For example, Out of the Abyss is certainly a big campaign but also a fantastic resource for running all sorts of adventures in the Underdark or subterranean environments. Likewise Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is an urban adventure but can (and should!) be tailored and customized for individual groups as well as being a general resource for these types of campaigns.

Any published adventures, whether from Wizards of the Coast or your favorite third party publishers, the Dungeon Master’s Guild, DriveThruRPG or anywhere you find them, can give Dungeon Masters and players great ideas to add to your home games. You don’t have to run a whole campaign for adventurers seeking to stop the death curse to use Tomb of Annihilation as a wonderful hex crawl. DMs can find inspiration everywhere to bring back to players in their games. And with that being said, I’m going back to work on a setting inspired by Guild Wars 2’s norn. Stay nerdy!
