Claim the Sky to Become a Superhero with this Cypher System Expansion

Claim the Sky is the newest expansion for Monte Cook Games’ Cypher System – and everyone is sleeping on it. Now, I’m not talking about literally napping on the hardcover book, which would be uncomfortable. But why is nobody talking about this book? Claim the Sky offers a streamlined, user friendly superhero RPG experience. In fact I’d go so far as saying Claim the Sky offers the most user friendly superhero RPG in any system, Cypher System or otherwise.

D&D Ideas — Scarcity

Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is the scarcity, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of scarcity harsh environments like the tundra present unique challenges for those who live and adventure there. Uncovering the secrets of the frozen tundra gives adventurers the edge they’ll need to survive. You can get the Nerdarchy Newsletter delivered to your inbox each week, along with updates and info on how to game with Nerdarchy plus snag a FREE GIFT by signing up here.

Top 10 5E D&D Homebrew Magic Items by a Factor of Three — Scrolls

The homebrew content for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons found at D&D Beyond includes tens of thousands of entries and browsing them is a regular habit of mine. I’ve gone over all the schools of magic, subclasses for each class individually, feats, monsters, races and a variety of other categorizations of 5E D&D content. Now I’m onto magic items and already explored the homebrew armor, potions, rings and rods so now it’s time to unfurl those scrolls. If I’m honest I was surprised to see a respectable 1,688 homebrew magic scrolls at DDB. Let’s get into it.

Play Your Next 5E D&D Game as an Ultimate Spell Duelist

Over at Nerdarchy the YouTube channel Nerdarchists Dave and Ted were feeling inspired after building the ultimate melee duelist as a fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons character and set out to create its counterpart the Ultimate Spell Duelist. This 5E D&D Character Build Guide explores the idea of two wizards going at each other on equal footing — may the best spellcaster win style. Let’s get into it.

Top 12 Holiday Movies Every D&D Nerd Should Watch This Holiday Season

The holidays are in full swing, nerds! This time of year is steeped in fantasy and magic. With themes of good will toward men, cosmic evils facing the peril of true hope and whatnot the season feels ripe for nerds and fans of Dungeons & Dragons everywhere. For me the holidays entail gathering with family and friends to watch our favorite holiday movies while bingeing junk food. I’m sure many of you readers do something similar but maybe you’re not sure what to recommend to your family, or maybe you just want to find something new or unusual.

New Dangers Emerge from the Beard Dimension to Swarm Your 5E D&D Games

I recently ran a session of fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons over on our Nerdarchy Live channel. Untraditionally Arcane is a fun campaign featuring an all wizard party, one of whom is a School of Beardomancy wizard. You can grab all the content we’ve created like subclasses for every class, a whole bunch of spells, magic items and monsters from the Beard Dimension inside the trio of the original Beardomancy and follow ups Bad Hair Day and Hairable Ideas (we put together the Beardomancy Bundle as well).

Dissecting the 5E D&D Fey Creature Type

Salutations, nerds! I know I express a special love of each fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons creature type every time I tackle a new one but listen. The fair folk are a whole thing with me. I really love them in folklore and they’re super fun in 5E D&D as well. Fey are tricky but not always nice as well as prideful and vain but not always easily buttered up. If you know your fairy tales then you know fey can be easy enough to navigate around but do not lose sight of how the fey don’t see morality the same way as most humans.

D&D Ideas — Abundance

Welcome once again to the weekly newsletter. This week’s topic is the abundance, which we discussed in our weekly live chat. We hangout every Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST on Nerdarchy Live to talk about D&D, RPGs, gaming, life and whatever nerdy stuff comes up. Speaking of abundance we’ve got a plentitude of best selling titles over at the Dungeon Master’s Guild from our Character Build Guide series. Each one includes narrative and mechanical guidance for players from 1st to 20th level plus an NPC creature version inspired by them for Dungeon Masters. You can get the Nerdarchy Newsletter delivered to your inbox each week, along with updates and info on how to game with Nerdarchy plus snag a FREE GIFT by signing up here.

Top 10 5E D&D Homebrew Magic Items by a Factor of Three — Rods

D&D Beyond includes tens of thousands of entries of homebrew content for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons. Going over all the schools of magic, subclasses for each class individually, feats, monsters, races and a variety of other categorizations of 5E D&D content has become something of a tradition around here. Most recently I’ve been looking at magic items and already explored the homebrew armor, potions and rings. Alphabetical order dictates it’s now time for a look at rods. These scepter-like magic items often feel overlooked but such is not the case over at DDB where you’ll find over 1,690 homebrew magic rods. Let’s get into it.

Let Loose the Lamp Louse from Untraditionally Arcane in Your 5E D&D Game

Salutations, nerds! Today I want to share with you one of the creatures that came up in our last session of Untraditionally Arcane, the fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign at Nerdarchy Live where the Chaos Crew takes on the role of wizards from various untraditional schools of magic because the traditional ones of 5E D&D are on the fritz and puts us in a unique position to fix them.
