In this 20-minute video on Nerdarchy the YouTube channel Nerdarchists Dave and Ted look at Spelljammer: Adventures in Space for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons. There is a DM Screen, Astral Adventurers Guide, Boo’s Astral Menagerie and Light of Xaryxis.

The conversation begins with Dave and Ted explaining all the components of this campaign collection encompassing three 64 page books and the DM screen along with a double-sided poster map of the Rock of Bral packaged in a slipcase. The last of these, which the video does not touch on too deeply, is an asteroid city ideal as a hub for Spelljammer campaigns. It’s been around since the original Spelljammer boxed set from second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and the poster map shows both the top and underside of the asteroid.

In the video Dave and Ted discuss the new material found on the Spelljammer DM Screen like random encounter tables for the Astral Sea, Wildspace and ships along with information related to the latter like ship-to-ship starting distances, crashing, tasks, quirks and cargo. Next up players get lots of cool new toys like two new backgrounds, six races including plasmoids and thri-kreen, rules for how to operate a spelljamming helm, two new spells, three new magic items and most importantly of all 16 spelljamming ships plus loads of information about the setting itself.

Dungeon Masters get lots of new stuff too like 72 new monsters and a campaign written in a new style for D&D. The adventure is structured and written in a way to align more closely with how a lot of people play D&D these days. There are four parts to the adventure, each divided into three sections. Each section of the adventure is designed to run for about three hours.

The release of Spelljammer: Adventures in Space fulfills the hopes of many D&D players out there but did you know Nerdarchy’s been playing D&D in space for years? Over at Nerdarchy the YouTube channel you’ll find quite a few Spelljammer game play videos along with no shortage of helpful resources like How to Convert SpellJammer to 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. Right here at Nerdarchy the Website you’ll find even more 5E D&D Spelljammer stuff like new Otherworldly Patrons, spells, ship maneuvers, campaign ideas, adventure hooks and more.

Wildspace and the Astral Sea is a big place. Somewhere out there enterprising aliens constructed a very special kind of zoo. Perhaps your own Spelljammer: Adventures in Space might take adventurers to the Planar Zoo. A trip to the planar zoo is no walk through the park when you wake up as part of the exhibit! Will the characters learn the truth of their captivity, or will the zookeepers’ perfectly constructed habitat keep even the sharpest adventurers in the dark? Along with the Humanoid Exhibit adventure for tier 2-3 characters you’ll find a new playable race, three new magic items including Plushies of Fundrous Power and eight new creatures. Check it out here!
