Since the inception of D&D maps have played a huge part of the game. But that makes a lot of sense when you consider the origin of the game. Since Dungeons & Dragons was born of Chain Mail, a tabletop miniatures war game. From the earliest day of Dungeons & Dragons it has been played both in the theater of the mind as well as with D&D battle maps and miniatures. Theater of the mind is a style of play that doesn’t use miniatures or battle maps. Many tabletop roleplaying games have come along since the beginning of Dungeons & Dragons. Some favor theater of the mind while others lean heavily towards using minis and battle maps.
Immersive Battle Maps for Tabletop Roleplaying Games
D&D Battle Maps we want to talk about
You could actually use it for other tabletop roleplaying games as well. Now on Kickstarter you can find Immersive Battle Maps for Tabletop Roleplaying Games. Check it out here. It’s book of fantasy maps. You play right in the book instead of laying out each individual battle map, making this product highly portable for the Dungeon Master or Game Master on the go. There are nearly 30 battle maps included with more on the way.
The question is will a book provide a big enough play space for your battles? It’s not the largest play space, but what it lacks size it makes up for in portability.
I love the reusable vinyl stickers to go along with any of your fantasy tabletop roleplaying games. They remind me of the reusable vinyl sticker books I used to play with as a kid. The combination of nostalgia and functionality just really works for me.
Dungeon dressing packs and spell effects are great additions to the gaming experience.
At about a buck a map this is an amazing deal. The more stretch goals they unlock the more maps will go into the book. I believe this map book is a terrific asset to any GM’s arsenal. I love how portable they are. It is the perfect gaming accessory for a GM who travels to games a lot. It especially makes me think of Adventurers League DMs who could use portable D&D Battle Maps to take to gaming conventions or game stores.
