Dungeon Crate brings RPG loot to your front door every month

There seems to be a subscription box service for just about everything nowadays, from crafts to wines to all kinds of foods and more. There are even a number of different subscription boxes for the nerd or geek in all of us. But what about tabletop role playing gamers?

Before January 18, the pickings seemed pretty slim, but that was the launch date for Dungeon Crate, a monthly subscription box service with a focus on role players and the games we love.

What are subscription boxes?

If you are not familiar with subscription boxes, they are a service which mails you a package of goodies, usually every month, for a set, pre-paid fee. Some services only offer their boxes every other month or a few times a year, but most are monthly. What is inside each package will depend upon the service which you sign up for, and even then you usually won’t know what’s in each individual box until you receive it. So, it’s a surprise. As for the price structures, they tend to vary, usually depending upon the products offered and the service itself.

As for Dungeon Crate, you can expect all kinds of loot for role playing games. Dice bags, paints, tokens, coins, clothing, brushes, jewelry, and miniatures are just some of the possibilities. Hand-crafted items will not be unknown, adding a touch of the unique. Also, Dungeon Crate will try to remain neutral when it comes to games, which allows subscribers to use the materials for whatever game they want. And painters and crafters don’t have to worry about being left out, as their will be goodies for them.

So far Dungeon Crate is working with such vendors as Arc Knight Games, Shire Post Mint, Knight Watch Games, and Chessex, but more sponsors are expected to be added in the future, so Dungeon Crate’s offerings should only grow.

How much will it cost?

But what about pricing? For a single-month subscription, Dungeon Crate costs $35.95, which includes shipping. If you sign up for longer subscriptions, either three or six or 12 months, the price per month costs less, so you would actually be saving money in the long run though you would have to pay more up front. You can also give a Dungeon Crate subscription as a gift to a friend or family member. Each Dungeon Crate box is expected to ship the first week of each month.

In less than a week since the launch date, more than 300 subscribers have already signed up for Dungeon Crate, according to the service’s Facebook page, so the popularity is growing. Check out the Dungeon Crate website, consider a subscription, and while you’re at it, Stay Nerdy!
