Your Imagination is the Only Limit of RPG Stories

Can 5e Races Be as Interesting as Classes? In Rule of Chaos, the Answer is Yes!

One appreciation both RPG and technology enthusiasts share is for customization. We love options for helping us create the experiences we enjoy the most. Brave Alice Studios understands this and put their passion into creating a platform designed specifically with your stories in mind. RPG Stories is a 3D Virtual Tabletop containing a massive world builder with models and assets for medieval fantasy, modern horror and science fiction (so basically anything at all). For a non-savvy technological person like myself the most appealing option is Auto Mode for users who like to create content easily and fast, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Let’s get into it.

Create your vision to show the world

As time goes on and our hobby grows and expands it’s always been cool to see new developments and innovations on the classic tabletop experience. I’ll go as far as to say those things go hand in hand and that’s why RPG Stories looks exciting to me. Perhaps even especially to someone like me because it is an opportunity for something fresh in my own games but also to see how other gamers incorporate a resource like this going forward.

I’m very visually oriented with my RPG experiences and despite a heavily improvisational Game Master style I typically keep a handful of scenes and encounters on hand, which very often hinge on a particular place. It’s through this lens I’m pondering the possibilities RPG Stories offers. Since this VTT encompasses so many genres and contains tons of assets I really like how I can recreate my imagination in this 3D space, present it to players and let them interact using their characters — all designed to those players’ tastes too. It feels like an extension of theater of the mind.

I mentioned Auto Mode earlier and if I’m honest this tipped the scales pretty far for me digging RPG Stories. A lot of technology platforms, including no small number of other VTTs and world builders, really overwhelm me with their complexity. I appreciate how this one considers someone like me right up front. At the same time there’s tons of folks who love diving deep into the nuts and bolts of things and they need not fear either since RPG Stories compliments Auto Mode with Manual Mode.

Brave Alice shows keen awareness of the RPG crowd as well by making this community a priority for the entire project, giving supporters a voice for all upcoming features and models.

If I’m honest RPG Stories looks like a very user-friendly video game creation engine and in a way what a longtime RPG nerd like me always kind of figured would emerge someday. The drawback of even the most complex video game is there’s always some limitation or barrier. Players can’t really do anything they imagine and see the game react accordingly. RPG Stories looks to bridge this divide. There’s so many ways to customize the environments beyond merely static visuals like embedding GM notes and clues, animations, dynamic lighting and so much more.

Great partners go a long way too and Brave Alice works with some incredibly talented and accomplished folks too, making RPG Stories even more attractive — literally and figuratively (and with a double meaning for the latter!). RPG Stories is an official partner with our own great friends from Hero Forge. You can upload your customized Hero Forge minis directly to the software. How sweet is that?

RPG Stories also features an amazing quest from Penny Dragon Games and potentially even more content from them as well as other longtime Nerdarchy friends Nord Games.

It’s always great to see new approaches to tabletop gaming and fresh takes on existing concepts so I’m pretty excited to see how RPG Stories continues to develop. The ease of use along with expansive art assets and support for lots of rulesets gives RPG players a huge toybox to play with and expand the hobby in new ways.

As Brave Alice puts it, “your imagination is our limit” and it looks like they’ve already taken this vision pretty far. I don’t know about you but I can imagine quite a bit and I’m looking forward to seeing how big this can get!
