Watching the trailer on Kickstarter for the new Dragon Bagons series I couldn’t tell at first if I was watching a witty wordless indie film with a comical twist or if it was actually the advertisement it’s designed to be. Watching our main character travel across the fantasy landscape to find new dragons made me smile many times, seeing where each of these little LGBTQ+ Pride dragons were found. When I say the new Dragon Bagons on Kickstarter are fierce, BEAR in mind that’s coming from a proud Queer man (wink, wink). Wayward Masquerade has already delivered on a number of delightful dice bags and the new Dragon Bagons series looks to be every bit as amazing.

Be part of the Dragon Pride

It’s actually quite apropos the Pride Dragon Bagons Kickstarter comes nearing a climax in the story of my own TTRPG I play in on Wednesday nights with my chosen family (most of whom are in the LGBTQ+ community). In our adventure we play dragon riders, each with a unique homebrewed dragon for our individual characters.

Even if you’re not playing a dragon-themed campaign with a bunch of Queer+ friends, every nerd needs more places to store their dice (looking at you, dice goblins) and walking into your favorite FLGS (Friendly Local Game Shop) you’ll certainly be the talk of the table bringing in one of Wayward Masquerade’s dice bags.

These particular bags are an easy way for you to find other members of your pride. (Tribe? What do you call a group of dragons? Clutch sounds menacing – which isn’t bad – um… I’ll work on it.)

Dice Bags that make a statement

I just love the idea of walking into my FLGS — or possibly into a new location — carrying one of these little creatures with my shiny click-clacks. It’s a way to show my pride in a subtler way and to find others sporting their own community colors.

Let’s be real for a second: not all gaming spaces are Queer-friendly. Hearkening to the prominent culture of color signals in the Queer+ community, these new dice bags offer a subtle way to signal to others about your pride and that you’re a safe person to game with and talk to. If you’re a shop owner, carrying some of these can make people feel welcome.

As New Zealand-based Wayward Masquerade creator Bridget Hughes so eloquently puts it, “My favorite thing about making Pride Dragon Bagons is seeing people light up when they spot a proud, fierce little dragon sporting their colours. It’s a way of saying, ‘I see you’ to others in the community.”

It’s so true and I did absolutely beam when I noticed that there were not one — but two — Dragon Bagons I could identify with as a bi-romantic demisexual. What’s more, both of those communities I associate with are frequently forgotten or lumped with everyone without a lot of specific mention. It warmed my heart to see both of those dragons in this line and I would love to see more inclusions in future campaigns.

Dice Bags are for everybody

Let’s say you’re maybe not part of the LGBTQ+ community at all. Don’t worry! Wayward Masquerade has a menagerie of high quality assorted dice bags, and if dragons aren’t your speed, you can always pick up the adorably menacing Bagthulu!

Whether you shot things with rainbows or crossbows, there’s something in the Dragon Bagons collection for everyone. If you haven’t yet, pledge to their Pride Dragon Bagons Kickstarter! You can get one of their new line, or add one of their existing designs to your dice hoard. With only 11 days left there’s no time to wait on the Pride Dragon Bagons Kickstarter, which much like a mythical dragon is rare and fleeting so visit their page today!
