Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition – World Building – Gnar-Kee-Tis

Blood DemonNerdarchist Ted here and I have been running my Dungeons and Dragons campaign for around 8 months. The inspiration for my game came from one of our earlier videos.

Well now that we are well into the thick of the campaign I figured I would give you some background information on my blood demon. I am not going to give any stats as I am not sure whether the players or their characters will ever want to try and slay him.

I would hate to spoil the surprise for my players in Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.  As many of them I would guess read this.

Who is this Blood Demon

The blood demon had great ambition.  He craved blood but not in the way a vampire needs, but in the 2d14a3e95a175c3ee49c939baf9b7041way that it must be spilled upon the ground.  As a Demon, Gnar-Kee-Tis, was able to offer power and prestige for service and sacrifice.  The more he gave the more he got in return.

It was not long before his power had grown so much that he was able to challenge a demon lord for his title.  As his opponents life blood spilled out on the fiery floor of the abyss, Gnar-Kee-Tis howled in victory.  The newly risen demon lord claimed his throne and felt the power that comes along with his victory.

On the prime material plane life went on without anyone the wiser that a new power was upon them.  Gnar-Kee-Tis Sought out champions to make his power grow even further.  To cause the blood to flow even thicker.  As his minions served him they grew in power themselves , not only from the items they pillaged and plundered but from the power granted by the demon lord.

But however stronger the champions grew Gnar-Kee-Tis grew in power exponentially.  The banner of the bloody wound wrecked havoc across the plains and innocents were slaughtered by the hundreds.  The banner stayed away from areas that were too heavily populated by made sure to go near places that were draw small armies from their strongholds to defend the nearby villages.

The plotting done by the horde leaders and the demon were done with care.  It defied those in major cities that a horde of monstrous creatures could exact such plans.  Little did they know of the power behind it.

What are the lands of the Blood Demon

One  region has become to known as the Blood Soaked plains.  The horde camped there for a long time Demon-Dracula-HDand used it as staging for raids on all surrounding area.  A few plants evolved in the area, the blood cactus which literally tries to stab passersby to have them bleed on the ground and the razor grass which is so sharp it cuts the skin of any who come in contact with it.

The blood soaked plains for those daring to enter it can forage for red sand.  It is a resource that offers many different options.  It can be used as a special magical component, it has been used to ward off or cure certain maladies and it considered a holy item by those in the cult of the bloody wound.

For those following the tale of my Dungeons and Dragons game: the heroes of Griffongaff the designs of Gnar-Kee-Tis are known but what will his servants do next?
