A hallmark of roleplaying games, charts and tables are woven into the fabric of Dungeons & Dragons and every other tabletop RPG. They’re a way to inject spontaneity and randomness into adventures. Thanks to diligent work by Scott Beccard and Glenn McCord in developing Chartopia, GMs have a quick and easy way to create and access charts for anything they can imagine.

tables

Though this is a random table, this is not the kind of table you can create using Chartopia. However, you could gather at a table like this one and use Chartopia tables while playing your RPG there.

Nerdarchist Dave welcomed Beccard to the daily live chat to talk about Chartopia and raise awareness of this free digital tool. Creating an account is fast, simple and free, and gives users access to easy to use tools to create and organize collections of random tables and charts. In addition, it invites users to join a growing community of creators and share their creations with each other. You can visit, sign up and start exploring and creating your own charts and tables within minutes here.

Tools include many features like linking multiple charts, automatic calculations of nested equations, formatting options to create unique visual elements, HTML-formatting for easy website embedding, search filters and personalized folders to manage your collection. If any of that sounds complicated to you, Chartopia has it covered with a clean interface and easy-to-understand tools that do the heavy lifting.

Sharing your creations with the community is very easy, too. There are over 700 user-created charts available right now, with more all the time. Beccard and McCord have also recreated many of the charts from published D&D campaigns like Curse of Strahd. In the live chat, Beccard talks about how charts have influenced his own home game. Everything from a randomly created character that’s become one of his favorites to play, to a unique fantasy barkeep inspired by a random tavern generator have enhanced game play.

After watching the live chat, learn more about Chartopia through Nerdarchy-exclusive articles from Scott Beccard on nerdarchy.com and join the community on Twitter and Facebook for updates, news and creative and fun charts from other users.
