In this 19-minute video on Nerdarchy the YouTube channel Nerdarchists Dave and Ted explore the zoo and surrounding area of the zoo as a roleplaying game campaign setting. There are tons of areas within the zoo for crime, adventure and exploring in the Zoo Mafia RPG.

The conversation explains the importance and impact of the zoo setting where gameplay takes place. This discussion aims to establish what areas are included in the zoo and how to use these various locations before, during and after each of a mob’s crime-related jobs.

Dave and Ted use their own nearby Philadelphia Zoo to illustrate the scope of the zoo setting concept. This particular zoo boasts 1,300 animals. For comparison they point out how the world’s largest zoo, the Berlin Zoological Garden, is home to 17,000 animals!

In the video they touch on many different areas you might find in a zoo and include in your own Zoo Mafia setting. These include things like concession areas, attractions like photo opportunities, transportation, environmental features like ponds and lakes, special exhibits and gift shops. In addition there’s a plethora of administrative areas like security stations, medical centers, offices and parking lots. To highlight some of these locations they use real world examples and how they might affect and impact a game.
