Board Games in Review – Pyramid Arcade, Looney Pyramids – Kickstarter
I know what you are thinking, It is not Monday what is up with that. Last week I went over the books you may want to buy for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Today however I am going to revisit one of my favorite board game options. Looney Pyramids.
If you have been reading a lot on our website, particularly the board games in review, you will have seen some of my articles on Looney Pyramids, Martian Coasters. Well if you were slightly enticed by these reviews here is your chance to go and grab an all inclusive box with 22 games to play with those awesome pieces.
It is available on Kickstarter right now with under a week to go. It is already back with two stretch goals left.
Some of the games have had the rules out for a while, while others are unreleased games only play tested with devoted fans.
The games listed on the Kick Starter are:
- Ice Dice
- Zark City
- Color Wheel
- Black Ice
- Twin Win
- Treehouse
- Petal Battle
- LaunchPad 23
- Volcano
- Hijinks
- Ice Towers
- Lunar Invaders
- Verticality
- Homeworlds
- Powerhouse
- Looney Ludo
- Pyramid-Sham-Bo
- Give or Take
- World War 5
- Petri Dish
- Martian Chess
- Pharoah
I have played a large handful of these and while my preferred play style says some are better than others, each person is different. The picture above shows all the cool pieces that you get in this wonderful box. So if these 22 wonderful games are not enough for you there are sites online that offer rules to loads more games that you can play with these awesome pieces.
The versatility does not end there as these can be used to either make your own games, and share with the growing community or use them to augment your other games.
So let me talk about a few of the games that are in this box.
World War 5 is like Risk light. There is less territories and modified rules to use the pyramids rather than a massive set of pieces that can get lost or tossed everywhere when a player bumps the board. Also it does not take hours to complete a game you should be able to do it in under 30 minutes.
Petri Dish is something I have seen play tested 2 years ago and sadly the line to play was so big that I missed the opportunity to play but you are microbes in a petri dish. It looked like so much fun and I have been waiting to play ever since. I am most excited to get this new game piece and play this one first.
Launch Pad 23 is a game where you struggle to build a rocket with all the right pieces. It is great because the play options allow stealing from other players. A game can get fairly cut throat if a player is getting close to victory and you take the part he needed to finish. Build that Rocket and blast off to victory.
Zark City was my first Looney Pyramid game introduced to me by my Brother in law, Not Dave. In this game you use a standard deck of playing cards and the Looney Pyramids to attempt to control cards. The goal is to either get three of a kind or three consecutive numbers. Placement of your pyramids is important as you struggle for control of the cards you want.
So that is just a few of the Awesome games you get in this amazing box called Pyramid Arcade. The components are useful for multiple games, custom dice that the wonderful creators find new ways to integrate these same weird option into multiple games and I just love it.
So go help the Kickstarter, and at the same time, help yourself get this amazing package of games that you will be playing for years. I have already backed it, Have you?
Thanks for reading and Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!
