Star Wars Role Playing Game – Force and Destiny
Now that you have all seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens by now I am certain that you are all eager to play as a Force using character and that little taste in Age of Rebellion is just not enough for you? So why not Grab Force and Destiny? You can see my post here about Age of Rebellion.
Will you be Guided by Force and Destiny?
Across the movies and TV shows we have seen a variety of Jedi from a variety of races, and if you think that is diverse than you are not prepared for the book that is Force and Destiny. Like the other core books by Fantasy Flight Games this book is over 400 pages and it does provide all necessary rules to play Star Wars RPG. It is good and bad. If you are planning on buying all the books like I did you are paying for extra pages that you clearly do not need but at the same time it also spreads the rules out around the table as you pass the books back and forth.
As I stated in my other reviews of this game the narrative dice that changes the game in new and interesting ways. This is not a game for beginners unless they are coached by someone who really knows there stuff. Races play a part by giving you a few abilities and then you get to buy talents off of career trees.
As a huge Star Wars fan and having played previous incarnations of Star Wars RPG I was very excited to finally get my hands on this book. In each of the other posts I broke down the different races and classes and I will do the same here. But it would be silly to just say you can play a Jedi, because there are loads of options listed.
So Races: If you fancied Ki-Adi-Mundi you could play his race of Cerean. Those were the race with the tall conical heads. You of course are able to play a human, hopefully I do not need to explain that one. You can play a Kel Dor just like Jedi Master Plo Koon. If you can remember Baris Offee, then you are familiar with the race Mirialan and that is an option as well. My favorite looking new Jedi and Race from the Prequel Trilogy Jedi Miaster Kit Fisto and he was a Nautolan. My first instinct was to make a Nautolan Jedi, but I did not want to just make him so I rsisted and made my own concept.
If you watched the Clone Wars animated series then you must know of Ashoka Tano, the Togruta, who apprenticed under Anakin Skywalker. So since this race looked cool I decided to go for this one instead of Nautolan. Most Star Wars fans know what a Twi’lek is and they are an option here as well. And lastly we move to the race of the infamous Darth Maul. That wondrous character that spoke so few lines. The Zabrak. Most do not know the race by name but once you mention maul no further questions are necessary.
Now as I said above there are loads of different ways of playing a Jedi. There are 6 different career paths with 3 specialties under each of them. That is 18 skill trees chock full of fun Jedi power. You want to to make any character previously seen doing that really cool thing, it is probably in this book, as long as they were a force user that is.
You can be a hunter a warrior a pilot a mechanic and investigator it just goes on and on. This is the top of the get books just because it has all the force stuff you want and need. So head over here and get your copy today.
Today I will leave you with two parting words: May the Force be with You, and Stay Nerdy!
