I am fortunate to be friends with Ted Adams, a Nerdarchy Founder. Ted and I have two distinct things in common:
- Dungeons & Dragons fans
- Skylanders video game fans
Ted has an extensive collections of Skylanders (dwarfing my collection) and recently he proposed that we create a Skylanders tabletop roleplaying game short campaign (e.g. three sessions). I agreed that this was a good idea and began the task of pulling this campaign together. That task prompted a few decisions.
The next installment in the Garibay NPC Kit Series. Please find below nine Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition wizards, one in each of the game’s races from the Player’s Handbook, ready to make your game more colorful, fun and memorable.

I am building a Dungeons & Dragons 5E Adventure (Ulyain Village) on Youtube video by video (click here to watch). The Barkrager is a creature that inhabits the forest surrounding Ulyain Village, and the creature is presented here for use in your next Dungeons & Dragons 5E game.
You are a busy Dungeon Master. While there are lots of great adventures bouncing around the ranging, wide Internet (both free and pay versions), it is always useful to have some quick NPCs at hand to populate a tavern, throw a shoulder at a PC while they walk down the bustling street of your fantasy city or to meet a Player Character with a ready blade when they have a few too many hit points. Please find below 9 Dungeons & Dragon 5E Fighters, one in each of the game’s races, ready to make your game more colorful, fun and memorable.
Sliders was an epic science fiction television series that ran for five seasons between 1995 and 2000. Sliders was the story of four intrepid adventurers who used a wormhole vortex to “slide” between different Parallel Universes. The adventurers used a slide timer (a portable device) to be aware of when they could slide to another Parallel Universe. The timing of each slide had to be carefully managed because if the adventurers missed their slide window, they would be stranded in the current Parallel Universe for 29.7 years. While the four adventurers waited for the next slide, they would often become involved in events within the current Parallel Universe (despite attempts to remain uninvolved). Because the technology they used to slide was not fully tested before the first slide, the four adventurers could not control what Parallel Universe they slid to next. They also could not select their origin universe, Earth Prime, as a destination on the slide timers, so each slide was a slim hope that they would be able to slide home. Presented here is a Garibay 1K Adventure (an adventure present in 1,000 words or less) to allow Gamemasters to run a unique Sliders Adventure (Onyx Slide).
I am too young to have seen the original Planet of the Apes series. However, I was blown away by the dramatic impact of the 2011 reboot of the series through Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Fox delivered a fantastic sequel with the 2014 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In honor of the upcoming 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes, I present Fate Accelerated conversions of the series’ greatest Apes!
While most deities are bound to a plane, Jika and Ukan have always existed free of this restriction. Free to view every plane at every moment from every vantage, Jika and Ukan spent their time marvelling at the beings that lived and died on the...
“Our Last Best Hope” is a tabletop roleplaying game about a team of people on a mission to save humanity from a terrible crisis. It allows gamers to roleplay scientists, soldiers, engineers and doctors through intense space, snow or zombie danger scenarios.
Game Systems – DC Adventures (the current, superb Mutants and Masterminds TRPG published by Green Ronin) and the Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game (a wonderful card-based 1998 TSR TRPG, now out of print). Two distinct rules sets were used (the need for which is clear after reading the game setting).
Game Attributes – All players physically gathered around a standard gaming table.
Felicia Day (creator of The Guild and the Supernatural actress who played Charlie Bradbury, “The Girl with the Dungeons & Dragons Tattoo“) launched Geek and Sundry in 2012. Since then the YouTube powerhouse channel has created thousands of entertaining nerd culture videos and articles with Star Trek actor Wil Wheaton helming Geek and Sundry’s most engaging content. For the fifth year in a row, Geek and Sundry is heralding International Tabletop Day. In honor of Felicia Day’s steadfast support of nerd culture and Geek and Sundry’s tireless nerd content generation and the spirit of International Tabletop Day, a group of Nerdarchy Staff Writers has created Arbor Jade.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an epic new video game created by Guerrilla Games. Sony Interactive Entertainment released this 2017 Triple A game exclusively on PlayStation 4. This title is a major coup for Playstation as Sony continues to dominate the console market with the most Triple A games being available (or available exclusively) for their specific Playstation platform. Horizon Zero Dawn was also specifically well timed for Sony as the release was the only thing that could dull the gleaming shine of the Nintendo Switch Launch.
I watched my son Xavier play through this Triple A video game and knew immediately I needed to build a Garibay Game Kit to allow Gamemasters to run a Horizon Zero Dawn campaign.
Some of you may have watched some of the Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TRPGs) I have run for the Nerdarchy Primarchs Ted, Ryan, Dave and Nate in New Jersey.
- Fate Accelerated – Orks and Star Carriers
- D&D 5E – Thrycion Grey Riders
- D&D 5E Modern – Nerdarchy Saves The World
- FFG Star Wars – After the Force Awakens
- Cypher System Shadowrun – Slug Blazer
- Gamma World 7E – Rift Sweep
What you have not seen are the TRPGs I run for a great crew of Pennsylvania players (known as Perpetual Arc, for PA). Here is a list of campaigns I have run for Perpetual Arc.
Recently, I began down the road to fixing the two largest obstacles to drawing new players to Dungeons and Dragons 5E. Specifically, I stated the reason why it is important for the Monster Manual to be available to every player during every moment of every D&D 5E game. Last week’s article specifically addressed the following obstacle –
- D&D 5E New Player Obstacle 2 – The Game rewards system mastery greatly and punishes casual play brutally.
This week I continue down the road of fixing the two largest obstacles to drawing new players to D&D 5E by addressing the following obstacle –
- D&D 5E New Player Obstacle 1 – The Game takes far too long to play (typically four hours).
Quickly, the world has massively changed since the ’80s and ’90s heyday of D&D, and the normal run time of four hours per play session is severely damaging the game’s ability to attract new players. This problem will exacerbate every year until it is fixed.
