Wendy’s Feast of Legend RPG brings the beef!

Cursed Magic Items Get Top Billing in Cursed Collective Kickstarter
Shelter Divine Domain -- Cleric Subclass for 5th Edition

A while back, Old Spice dipped a toe into the tabletop roleplaying game community with their Gentleman class. But today, Wendy’s was like, “hold my Frosty.” The fast food giant dropped an RPG bomb today with Feast of Legends: Rise from the Deep Freeze, a 97-page game rulebook and campaign setting. The brand’s sassy social media strategy upped its hip quotient, tapping into the enormous popularity of RPGs with the game.

Wendy's RPG Feast of Legends

Wendy’s RPG Feast of Legend brings the beef!

Feast of Legends, in partnership with Fandom and Critical Role, launched at the New York Comic Con. While gimmicky for sure, Feast of Legends is nevertheless a complete ruleset. You can watch it played tonight, Oct. 3, in a special one shot from Critical Role and sponsored by Wendy’s. The Realm of Beef’s Keep needs heroes, and Game Master Sam Riegel will guide adventurers through what I suspect will be a very fun and very weird story. You can check that out starting at 7 p.m. pacific on Critical Role’s Twitch channel.

Since the full ruleset was released for free, of course we downloaded a copy to check out and it looks like a pretty streamlined, easy to grasp game system and also a lot of fun! Making the rules simple is going to attract a lot of curious people into the hobby we love and that’s fantastic. All the game content is of course Wendy’s-themed. Players take on the roles of heroes like Order of the Chicken and Order of the Sides. Order of the Baked Potato (a subclass of sides, naturally) caught my attention.

The adventure and campaign setting centers around the capital city of Freshtovia, and the Realm of Beef’s Keep includes places like the Lake John Silver and the Deep Freeze, along with plenty of other playful pokes at Wendy’s fast food competitors.

As a personal fan of culinary adventures — both in my RPGs and real life! — Feast of Legends definitely hooks me. I love a game with simple rules, lighthearted tones and high adventure so heck yes I’ll be exploring Freshtovia more. Wendy’s did not skimp on the production of the PDF, with clean layout and design, full-color art, bestiary, a ton of gear and treasure, a really robust adventure with fantastic maps and random tables and guides for continuing adventures beyond the scope of the PDF.

You can find the complete PDF of Wendy’s RPG Feast of Legend here and take on the fight against frozen beef yourself! Let us know what you think.
