Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting — What it Says On the Tin from Nord Games

Taking Morality, Duty and Obligation from a Galaxy Far, Far Away for 5E D&D
Dragon Stew is the Perfect Recipe for Cooking in 5E D&D

Our friends at Nord Games launched a new Kickstarter today and judging by the response so far it’s clear fans of fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons are picking up what they’re putting down. The Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting for 5E delves into an area of the game players love to explore with a brand new game mechanic for creating items, potions, and magical goods. The project checks all the boxes I look for in snazzy new content for my games, and if you’re wondering why you should back the Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting for 5E Nord Games includes a wonderful sidebar to help you decide too.

Robust 5E D&D crafting yes please

It’s no secret I’m a fan of Nord Games products. The bounty hunter campaign inspired by The Mandalorian I ran featured elements from a variety of Nord Games books and decks. In the campaign characters could acquire a special material called greensteel and their guild Armorer could fashion custom gear for them. Imagine if I’d had Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting!

With their proven record of delivering robust, useful material for gameplay I am certain the chapters in the book for each creative discipline will satisfy fans of 5E D&D crafting. Alchemy, crafting and enchanting present three avenues to making customized items. Game content like this lets players steer the ship, something I dig immensely. Epic quests and dangerous monsters notwithstanding whenever players become invested in the setting through their characters the magic happens. Giving players tools like these to explore 5E D&D crafting leads to all sorts of dynamic scenarios. I can imagine a campaign where characters are crafters first, with their adventuring class the thing they do on the side to support their trade.

Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting looks like it includes resources to make this campaign really compelling too, through Crafting Associations. Building this sort of in game organization on top of an innovative 5E D&D crafting system provides context for characters and expands the possibilities for crafter focused adventures. The association for each discipline — alchemy, crafting and enchanting — grants perks to members to hone their skills and rise in rank for access to more exclusive recipes. But there’s rules and regulations to follow too, with a hint of espionage so there’s going to be plenty of drama to create individual and group stories moving forward.

For players interested only in adding a cool new 5E D&D crafting system into their games Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting presents a streamlined method for creating these items too. And there’s a lot of items! Over 200 new magic and mundane items come packed inside and also in Magic Item Decks (yay!). Card based accessories for RPGs are a particular favorite of mine and Nord Games has some really terrific ones already.

Nord Games consistently produces solid content for Fifth Edition and their team continues to grow and improve. They’ve been killing it with all the great deals you can find in their website store and I’m very happy to see the Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting crushing it already. A compatible system for 5E D&D crafting with tons of tools and resources for Game Masters and players to create fun new stories together sounds awesome to me.
