It has been announced that The Punisher Netflix series Season One will premiere sometime this year.

This announcement comes directly from Marvel as they announced four new cast members for the first season.

1. Daniel Webber (from the TV mini-series 11.22.63) has been cast as Lewis Walcott, a young veteran with re-assimilation difficulties.

2. Jason R. Moore (from “A Lonely Place for Dying”) will play Curtis Hoyle, a friend and confidant of Frank’s. Curtis was a Marvel Comics character who only appeared in the first two issues of the second volume of The Punisher. He was a friend of Frank’s from ‘Nam and he joined a nefarious group that Frank was infiltrating. He died when Frank threw him out of a helicopter.

3. Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie) was cast as Rawlings, a high-ranking CIA operative who crossed paths with Frank in Afghanistan. In the comics, he was William Rawlins, a very important enemy of The Punisher who set-up terrorist cells across the world.

4. Jaime Ray Newman (Bates Motel) was cast as Sarah Lieberman, the wife of Micro. Micro is Frank’s sidekick and builds a lot of the tech and weapons that The Punisher uses. She’s been a complicating factor in Frank and Micro’s working relationship until she later died and Micro became an enemy to Frank.

5. Also, slated for the first season is returning character Karen Page, played by actress Deborah Ann Woll.

Steve Lightfoot, who wrote for Hannibal, will write the 1st two episodes and will stay on for the season as Executive Producer, along with Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb.

With the slated 2017 release, this makes three Marvel/ Netflix collaborations that will release this year, following Iron Fist, which releases on 17 Mar 2017, and Marvel’s “The Defenders,” which may or may not feature The Punisher.
