Take Shelter from the Frostmaiden Inside Wizkids 5E D&D Icewind Dale Papercraft Sets

As the world of terrain for tabletop roleplaying gaming continues to improve it is cool to see all the directions it is going. I remember doing punch out kits, usually in a woodlike material back in the day. Now the wonderful people over at WizKids have taken this concept and made houses perfect for gaming terrain. D&D Icons of The Realms Miniatures: Icewind Dale: Rime of The Frostmaiden – The Lodge and Ten Towns Papercraft Sets became part of my collection and I’m excited to craft these super sturdy cardboard buildings to use in my fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons games.

Staying cool with papercraft terrain

I have built all four houses or buildings and I enjoyed the process. Each one got easier and easier to construct. The last building took no time at all. Looking at the pictures I assumed the buildings were smaller but that was not the case at all because the Ten Towns has three buildings together. All four buildings are sizable and can be a good thing for 5E D&D monsters to hide behind if you so desire.

These houses are perfect for use in Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden as they are literally designed to be Ten Towns. Between the two sets you get four buildings to be put together quite easily and since they are papercraft they are super lightweight and affordable. If you are willing to keep them so they can open via the roof you can even maneuver inside each building as its own miniature battle mat.

If you need more buildings the Ten Towns set comes with three so having multiple sets could allow you easily to set up a very cool town map. Ten Towns consists of an Inn, the Apothecary and a Residence. Since these are smaller buildings getting a few sets would allow you to have a easy to maneuver set of buildings that can be any town. Since they are made of paper you could download a roof pattern picture and print out on card stock to make new roof tops you could apply over the snow covered roof and have the one set of buildings fit for anything you need.

If this was not enough looking at the beauty of these cool buildings they are a perfect set of holiday buildings for winter time. Whether you add the Victorian era or modern day people walking down the street near these buildings it will fit. Add a Christmas tree or other holiday decorations of your preference and you will see they all fit so nicely. I could even seen adding some extra 3D flocking to these if you were interested in making them permanently a winter themed set.
