Board Games in Review – Smash Up – Munchkin Part 2

Smash Up MunchkinWell it is that time again and Happy Monday.  Today I am going to bring you part 2 of my review of Smash Up Munchkin.  You can find part 1 right here.  I already went over four of the factions and monsters in last weeks article.  I also explained how monsters actually add to the break point of bases.

When a monster is defeated usually through the use of an action the player responsible can earn treasure for defeating that monster.  Treasure cards go to your hand but once used go to their own discard pile making for just a little extra clean up.  How ever you get your treasure once in your hand they still break down into the two standard card types, Action or Minion.

What factions will you team up in Smash Up Munchkin?

Board Games in Review – Smash Up – Munchkin Part 1

Smash Up MunchkinHello Nerdarchists and board game enthusiasts.  Today I bring you another great game for your consideration, or at least part of it.  If you missed last weeks article I did Munchkin Zombies, located here.  Smash Up is a fantastic game that only gets better as it adds more options and mechanics with wonderful expansions.
Smash Up Munchkin is a stand alone expansion to the base game and can be played separately or as a standalone game much the same way Munchkin games are treated.  In this card game you get 8 new factions, a set of bases to add to your collection. new tokens of course,  and 2 new types of cards.

Will You Play Smash Up Munchkin Alone or Add it to Your Others?

Since there is so much in this box I am going to break up the review to go into depth into each pile.  The two new card types are monster, which I will talk about below and treasure which I will go into in next weeks article.  Since there are 8 factions I will also go into depth about 4 of those options below.  Again you will have to wait until next week for the others.  They are Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs, Warriors, Clerics, Mages, Thieves and Warriors. Celebrate the upcoming Holidays with Star Wars

Hello and Happy Monday from us here at Nerdarchy.  As we are about to move into December and all the holidays and potential time off from School and Work, why not celebrate all the downtime with Star Wars.  So with the holidays upon us I am taking a break away from board games today and letting you get your Star Wars on as we all anticipate the release of the new movie.

If you are into reading novels, there are lots of really great options. I am a huge fan of the tales books.  Such as the Tales of the Bounty Hunters and Tales from Moss Eisley Cantina.  You get some intriguing tales about the side characters that are only on screen for a few seconds and it shows the richness of the world that we love.  Another great example is the New Jedi Order.  I love the part of this one with Kyp Durron.  If you are a Star Wars fan these should not be missed.

Will You be Role Playing in The New Jedi Order?

If table top is more your thing, then you have to try out the new Role Playing game from Fantasy Flight Games.  If you

follow our channel you have seen that we are having our guest DM who is far more knowledgeable about the system run it for us, sadly a year after I said I would get the books and run it.  As I am diving more and more into the system it is rising higher and higher in my esteem.  I can’t wait for our first session.

If you are more likely the type of person who wants to just sit back and be entertained there are plenty of DVDs.  You have multiple version of the original trilogy and you have the new stuff as well.  If you are not into Episodes 1-3, for what ever reason and you have the original trilogy  then you can grab either rebels or the clone wars.  It has some great characters and helps develop the story behind the movies.  Rebels I just pick up today upon Nerdarchist Dave’s recommendations seconded by our Guest DM Scott.  Both animated series have cool story lines and compelling characters to draw you in and keep you watching.

If that is still not enough you have board games and video games.  For board games you have all levels with Star wars risk, always a blast and even Star Wars Chess and Monopoly.  Classics with a twist are always great to add to a collection or pick up as a gift.  Nate the Nerdarch is playing Battlefront and loving every minute of it and I am grabbing the Lego version to play with my son.

So why not keep your holidays Nerdy by adding more Star Wars to it.  As always thanks for reading and Until Next Time Stay Nerdy!

Nerdarchy RPG Academy

Welcome and well met travelers of the internet.

Nerdarchist Dave here back after missing this post last week. The first thing I wanna do is say how thankful Nerdarchy are for all of you and we hope those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving had an awesome one.

Last week was a crazy week of computer/internet woes. We had to move from one type of hosting to another and we kind of blew it up like Alderaan. So we lost a couple of articles, but it could been a lot worse. Though in a week’s time span I probably spent about 7 hours on the phone with GoDaddy tech support. I’m super happy with them. They really did go out of their way to help me solve the issues. Continue reading 5e Modern, in Space, and Jedi and Sith + More|Nerdarchy’s Nerdy News and Weekly Digest

Board Games in Review – Smash Up – Killer Combiner Card Game

smash upHello fellow Nerdarchists out there.  Nerdarchist Ted here and today I want to talk more about some board games or card game in this instance.  Particularly Smash Up, published by AEG.  The basic premise of the game is universal domination,  and who does not want that?

I have been playing this game for quite a while and just love it.  My fellow Nerdarchist do as well.  And who does not want to play a game that has a T-rex with mounted lasers?

The galaxy or universe is at war and no single faction has made enough progress by themselves to be able to say they are winning.  So what is there to do?  Lets team up. Continue reading Board Games in Review – Smash Up – Killer Combiner Card Game
