Stibbles Codex of Companions Makes the Familiar Extraordinary
Hello humble traveler and thanks for stopping by. Allow me to introduce you to an awesome project being created by some great people including Lead Designer Logan Reese, the YouTuber behind the Runesmith channel. Stibbles Codex of Companions is more than just a 5th Edition supplement book providing unique animal companions, familiars and pets along with new ways to use them at your table. There are some other great options as well, but to get into all of that you will have to keep reading.
“Strengthen your bond with familiars and pets, and discover dozens of fantastical new friends.”
Do you have what it takes to tame these familiars?
First and foremost Stibbles Codex of Companions is filled with over 70 creatures with lore and stat blocks of low challenge monsters just lining up to be a familiar to your wizard or a companion for your ranger. And if over 70 new creatures was not enough for you they have made a new rule set for tracking loyalty and bonding so the better you are treating your companion the more rewards or powers you unlock to make your companion better. That sounds like a win-win situation to me.
I know my kids are going to fawn all over it when this book shows up. The artwork for what is released is very fun and creative. I love the direction they are going with it. But the awesome art does not stop at a great two dimensional artwork decorating a great book of rules. It goes even further with the option of minis, chibis and even plushies.
Mind = blown.
Based on the Kickstarter page we already know we get a little tree person called a bonsai ent, a fungal folk which looks like a mini myconid and a crabbit which might be a different take on an owlbear that looks like some kind of cross behind a rabbit and a crow. There is a mimic cat or mimcat. I love both cats and mimics so I’m very excited to see more about this. Last but certainly not least is Stibbles himself, which to me is very reminiscent of David the Gnome who lived in mushrooms. But clearly he is some kind of new fey. All in all I’m very excited to see the other 65+ ideas planned for the book.
There is a section of feats and spells designed for use with your familiar or animal companions. Now I have not seen the finished product yet or even a sneak peek at what the options are but based on what I would come up with I can only imagine the things these wonderful people are going pack into this great book. I have already backed for my physical copy to get those minis you know Nerdarchist Ted needs to have.
So do yourself, Nerdarchy and Eldermancy a favor — check out the project and discover the pledge level that’s right for you, share it with your gaming friends and show Stibbles Codex of Companions some love here.
Thanks for reading and as always, until next time, stay nerdy!
