Nerdarchy the Convention is the Ultimate Way to Stay Nerdy

Random Encounters like The Mandalorian in 5E D&D

Have you been keeping up with Out of the Box: Encounters for 5th Edition? We experienced phenomenal success with our first Kickstarter, and because of that we were able to grow as an entity in so many ways. Not the least of these is hiring me as a full-time Nerdarchy content director, at least in my opinion! We’re incredibly excited about the book we’re putting together. Seeing all the extraordinary art being created to bring all 55 encounters to vivid life on the pages, the evocative maps and all the bells and whistles like custom Nerdarchy dice really make us proud of this project and we cannot wait to get these things into your hands and on your gaming tables. But we’d be lying if we didn’t say we’re overjoyed about our ultimate stretch goal — Nerdarchy the Convention!

Nerdarchy the Convention

These are just some of the special guests appearing at Nerdarchy the Convention. Artifact level badge holders are invited to a special Kick-Off Party along with these fantastic folks.

Nerdarchy the Convention

Nerdarchy the Convention rolls into the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center for Halloween weekend 2020 and we are beyond excited for this inaugural event. All the Nerdarchy content we’re known for continues to be created and shared — moreso in some cases — while we work our butts off developing this event.

Badges are available right now at presale prices and the number is limited so if you’re thinking about going now is the best time to register. Presale badges also get early access for Legendary and Artifact badges.

Previously we referred to these as VIP and Ultimate VIP badges, but we decided on these cooler names for them.

One of the most important things we aimed to offer at the convention is cost-free gaming. Attendees will still need to register for games and receive tickets to participate, but these tickets are free. Attendees with Legendary and Artifact badges receive early registration noted below.

Legendary Badges

  • 200 available
  • $100 each
  • Grants Early Entry into the Vendor Hall
  • 2nd Tier for access to register for games and panels
  • Special badge commemorates Nerdarchy the Convention and lets everyone know you’re attuned at the Legendary Badge level

Artifact Badges

  • 100 available
  • $500 each
  • Grants Early Entry into the Vendor Hall
  • 1st Tier for access to register for games and panels
  • Special badge commemorates Nerdarchy the Convention and lets everyone know you’re attuned at the Artifact Badge level
  • Exclusive invite to Nerdarchy the Convention Kick-Off Party on Oct. 29, 2020. You’ll get to hobnob with special guests of the convention in a catered event space with open bar, plus access to the special events planned for the evening

*There are three access tiers. Both Legendary and Artifact badge holders gain early registration access, before the general public

Nerdarchy the Convention the Party

You can learn more about Nerdarchy the Convention and some of the fantastic events and guests we’ve already got planned here. One of the events we’re most stoked about is the Nerdarchy the Convention Kick-Off Party on Oct. 29, 2020. In addition to rubbing elbows with the event’s special guests, we’re going all out to kick-off our inaugural convention in a kick-ass way for attendees.

Not only will this be the first of what we plan to be a not-to-be-missed yearly event, it’s Halloween weekend! So you know we’ve got to go even more over the top to make your experience unforgettable. We’re putting together swag bags for Kick-Off Party attendees, along with games, contests and prizes throughout the evening. We’re also leaning into the holiday spirit and encouraging attendees to come in costume. One of our Ambassadors of the Gaming is cosplayer, singer, and YouTuber Ginny Di so we’re setting the bar high for everyone to bring their costume A-game.

Not for nothing but I’m campaigning hard for Nerdarchist Dave to get in character as Vultan from Flash Gordon because are you crazy, this will be flippin’ awesome. I guess as Nerdarchy content director I’ll have to delve into the world of cosplay myself, too. Got any ideas for me?

Progress on Out of the Box: Encounters for 5th Edition

The writing is complete and edited, and amazing new art from Kim Van Deun keeps coming in. We’ve been sharing some of those incredible pieces on social media and we hope everyone is as blown away as we are.

Our No. 1 goal remains producing a book we are proud to have our names on to sit on a shelf of honor alongside all our favorite 5th Edition content. We’ve read, played in and ran these encounters and we’re beyond thrilled to share them with you. Thousands of backers and preorder supporters placed their trust in us to deliver an extraordinary product and we’re doing our absolute best to honor and exceed your expectations.

We’re confident we’ll be able to deliver ahead of our estimated date from the Kickstarter. Especially since this is our first one, we thought it would be better to over estimate the date and deliver early rather than run into unforeseen circumstances and deliver late.

It’s not too late

If you missed the live Kickstarter, worry not! The pledge manager is live and accepting late pledges so you can get in on Out of the Box: Encounters for 5th Edition.

You can visit the pledge manager here to preorder your own copy including any of the extras we created to support the book like Fantasy Grounds integration, exclusive Nerdarchy dice and more.

We know many of you are concerned about Kickstarter’s business practices, and we want to make it clear the pledge manager is an independent entity, unrelated to Kickstarter.
