Kickstarter Korner for June 2018, Week 4

Congratulations to the Origins Game Fair 2018 Origins Award Winners
Underprepared D&D Players Miscast My Cantrips

Each week during the Quests & Adventures live chat, Saturday at 2 p.m. eastern, Nerdarchists Dave and Ted and Nate the Nerdarch hang out live with fans from the Nerdarchy YouTube channel. It’s a chance to share announcements and news, answer questions from the live chat and generally just hang out and talk nerdy with the Nerdarchy community.

In the description of each weekly video, Nerdarchist Ted compiles a list and links to all the videos and website content from the week. But he also shares a selection of cool Kickstarter campaigns. As an avid Kickstarter supporter, he’s happy to share his favorite RPG and gaming-related Kickstarters with you, the Nerdarchy community. Enjoy!

The impetus to start Nerdarchy itself was to give something back to the tabletop gaming community. Through videos and posts here on the website, Nerdarchy is happy to give our time and energy to help people create better experiences in their own games and engage in gaming with us too.

In the live stream community, tons of gamers regularly run games to raise funds for charity too. In fact today at 2 p.m. eastern on the Web DM Twitch channel, DM Emma is running her first live stream D&D game, Escape from Flavortown, to help the Girls Empowerment Network.

You can carry the giving spirit into your games too. Have you ever heard actors describing their peers and colleagues as generous? Gaming is very similar, and giving other players and their characters opportunities to shine through support and encouragement makes games and the stories within them better. It’s definitely fun to play a character with supreme skill in whatever area they focus on, but it is rewarding to support and uplift fellow players and characters as well. And things like buff spells and abilities on your allies have the added bonus of not failing to land!

So whether it’s giving away materials to less fortunate gamers, giving your time to help answer a question or invite someone to your game, giving to charity or causes you believe in or simply giving the other players at your table a chance to shine, embrace the giving spirit. It makes our games, our community and the world a better place.
