Keep an Eye of the Deep on Aquatic Adventures in D&D

Each week during the Quests & Adventures live chat, Saturday at 2 p.m. eastern, Nerdarchists Dave and Ted and Nate the Nerdarch hang out live with fans from the Nerdarchy YouTube channel. It’s a chance to share announcements and news, answer questions from the live chat and generally just hang out and talk nerdy with the Nerdarchy community.

In the description of each weekly video, Nerdarchist Ted compiles a list and links to all the videos and website content from the week. But he also shares a selection of cool Kickstarter campaigns. As an avid Kickstarter supporter, he’s happy to share his favorite RPG and gaming-related Kickstarters with you, the Nerdarchy community. Enjoy!

Protip: You never know until you try! Several occasions this week illustrate the point. The first, and most exciting, comes on the heels of Nerdarchy’s launch of a brand new series on the YouTube channel. Nate the Nerdarch has been hard at work on a secret project we uploaded directly following the Quests & Adventures live chat. D&D Animated Stories is a thing! Exploring the world of animation is something Nerdarchy has been interested in for a while now. Nate learned the basics of animation put it all together including the voice work. We all think it turned out really terrific! Like anything else in life, it’ll only improve with more practice, but taking that first step is the most important. We’d love it if you check it out, share it and leave constructive feedback too.

live stream RPGAnother new direction for Nerdarchy was investing in a whole bunch of new equipment like cameras and lighting for the set. Nerdarchists Dave and Ted spent a whole day with a professional videographer getting some education in techniques and operation. As always, we do our best in everything and keep striving to improve. Considering the guys started out with a cellphone camera, learning the ropes of filming and YouTube from scratch, we’re all very excited to push forward towards better quality for the Nerdarchy community all over the world.

When it comes to gaming, someone reached out on Twitter a few days ago to ask Nerdarchy about streaming their RPG sessions. They’d heard it was difficult, expensive and risky. It was really cool to see a bunch of replies encouraging this group to share their game. One of the awesome things about the RPG community is the wide spectrum of folks out there playing live stream games, from acclaimed shows like Critical Role down to our own little Ingest Quest game. Live streaming RPG play is a distinct playstyle and it’s as easy to do as getting a web cam and using Hangouts. If live streaming games is something you’re interested in, give it a shot! If everyone has a good time, congratulations – you succeeded.Kickstarter RPG

Lastly, both Nerdarchist Dave and Nerditor Doug started playing in two new campaigns this week, both over on thegreyhawkchannel on Twitch. Nerdarchist Dave is playing in Queen of the Spiders, and Nerditor Doug on Secrets of Castle Greyhawk. Both of them decided to try some unusual voices for their characters. Get Outta Here is a kenku Beastmaster ranger played by Nerdarchist Dave, and Gusamon Gusfun is a svirfneblin Circle of Spores druid played by Nerditor Doug. Trying out different voices is something both of them are interested in exploring, and what better opportunity than live for the world to watch! Voice directors probably won’t be knocking down their doors anytime soon, but they both had a ton of fun trying something different and both campaigns feature awesome Dungeon Masters and fellow players. Developing a distinct voice for your character adds a ton to the experience, so next time you roll up a new character, consider giving them a unique voice. Once you start, just commit and go all-in. It’s a ton of fun!
