Kickstarter Behemoth is this the new Tarrasque
I try not to share too many Kickstarter projects here, but every once and a while I feel that a project is
worth sharing. Over the years Dungeons and Dragons as well as Pathfinder have released a number of large or should I say gargantuan miniatures. Most of the miniatures I have that get big are Dragons.
Lets face it the game many of us play is called Dungeons and Dragons so why make the other stuff? We as players all want to face down the big bad monsters, save the world, get the treasure and save the girl.
The biggest monster that anyone has put out was the Colossal Red Dragon. It is a wondrous figure and I am happy to say that I do own one. The dragon can actually hold a standard size human in one claw and I typically store one there for fun.
But if you want to deal with something other than dragons what are you options. Not many and there is nothing in the colossal range other than the red. Now sure you can go and grab some kids toys but we all want the feel of proper sizing and spacing and when a miniature comes based with the right size it make it all the better.
So with this kickstarter you can get a behemoth. This amazing figure comes on an 8×8 base and is sculpted excellently. If you are budget conscience you get get the unpainted version for about $50.00. You can leave it as is, still impressive or paint it your self. If you are interested there are two different versions that you can get painted for just over $60. A steal if you ask me.
I know at one point in the past some one actually took the artwork for the tarrrasque and tried to make a miniature of it on kickstarter. I was ready to back it when it got pulled for copyright. It was a shame they did not go through proper channels. Well now those of you who want a tarrasque or other fantastically massive creature to grace your gaming table now is your chance.
The tarrasque was not a concept that was created for D&D it actually comes from French culture. Who would of thought the most powerful monster in the MM would come from France.
Now this kickstarter for this amazing behemoth has about a month left and plenty of ground still to cover but they have had other successful projects and I feel that there is no reason that this will not happen. There are two choices for a paint job and the exclusive to kickstarter only I feel is the clear winner.
I can’t wait to have this at my gaming table. How about you is this something you need? If it is not, but you use other awesome minatures at your table you can support the project and grab some other awesome things like a Kraken. How many of you have had your boats utterly destroyed and had to use a stand in? There are lots of other options as well. Possiblly with more to come. As all of us continue to use miniatures at our gaming table more companies stand up and say I want to get in on that market.
You have the official Dungeons and Dragons miniatures. You have Pathfinder Miniatures. You have all the unpainted non-blind purchase figures from Bones. Well the up and coming company is Dungeon Crawler. With projects like the Behemoth (tarrasque) as well as a great Kraken I can only wonder what they are working on behind the scenes.
So if you are interested or want to grab your own Behemoth or want to support the kickstarter check it out, here!
Thanks for reading and Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!

May 28, 2016 at 2:46 pmAs cool as this figure looks, it's worth pointing out that the company who is producing it "Dungeon Crawler" has some sketchy items in their online store. In addition to models and cards, they sell tokens. https://www.dungeoncrawler.com/store/25-tokens. But these aren't the kind of tokens you use for gaming, the picture here is of the kind of token that you use to ride the TTC, which is the public transit system in nearby Toronto, where I live. They are sold for $1 each, but real ones bought from the transit commission or an authorized dealer are $3. I suspect these ones are counterfeit and that a good chunk of their online business comes from fulfilling orders for $1000 dollars worth of counterfeit subway tokens. Counterfeit tokens are realitivy common here, but selling them is still a pretty serious crime. http://www.citynews.ca/2016/05/04/toronto-woman-charged-with-selling-counterfeit-ttc-tokens/. That article was from earlier this month: note the similarity between the pictures of the tokens in the news article and on the Dungeon Crawler website. Also ask yourself why a gaming site is selling tokens with no description in lots of 1000 for a grand.
