Critical Role Announces Exciting New Ventures

Colosseum of Weird -- D&D Extraplanar Adventure Seeds
Unearthed Arcana - D&D Giant Soul Sorcerer

On June 18, the team from Critical Role shared a video and blog post on their official new site CritRole.com announcing some big changes. No, the megapopular live stream D&D show isn’t going away, calm down Critters. Quite the opposite, the show — and brand itself — are evolving and growing! Discussed briefly on Talks Machina recently, the cast of Critical Role have taken ownership of the brand through the launch of a creator-owned company. In addition to its own official website, several other changes are coming including a new studio and Critical Role YouTube and Twitch channels.

Critical Role YouTube and Twitch new studio

Travis Willingham, Matt Mercer and Marisha Ray announce exciting new developments for Critical Role on June 18, 2018.

New studio and more for Critical Role

According to the Critical Role website, this company is “100% creator-owned and this means that we have the freedom to be as adventurous and creative as we can be. The cast will continue to manage and lead all aspects of Critical Role’s business and creative ventures.” As part of this new venture, Marisha Ray has stepped down as creative director for Geek and Sundry to focus on this new business.

Part of this new direction for Critical Role is the creation of a dedicated studio space for the show, which will continue to live stream Thursdays at 10 p.m. eastern. However, they have launched their own YouTube and Twitch channels and plan to stream other gameplay programming too, including Honey Heist 2 (Electric Beargaloo) from Ray. Other new shows will be coming as well, which was touched on in the video announcement featuring Ray, Matt Mercer and Travis Willingham.

It’s important to note that Geek and Sunday will continue to broadcast both Talks Machina and Critical Role on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively.

Going forward, CritRole.com looks to be a great hub for everything Critical Role including news, videos, podcasts, event schedules, blog posts and the official Critical Role online store, where you can find the very first Mighty Nein T-shirt available right now.

The site will also host a weekly fan art gallery and plans are in motion for a cosplay series to showcase Critical Role cosplayers every month.

Here at Nerdarchy we want to wish the entire Critical Role team the best of luck in this exciting new endeavor. Through sharing their D&D game, Mercer and fellow nerdy ass voice actors have encouraged countless people around the world to join the growing community of D&D players. But much more than that, they’ve made a positive impact on so many lives through charitable donations, engagement with the Critter community, and advocating inclusiveness and humanity in everything they do.
