Books in review – Superpowered by James Schannep – Choose your own adventure

How to DM -- Cheat With The Lazy Dungeon Master
How You can Save Money on Audiobooks Without Even Trying

choose your own adventureHappy Memorial Day!  I hope this day finds you and yours well. Nerdarchist Ted here again.  Lets look back to the time we were kids.  Do you remember fondly watching and playing Super heroes?  Do you remember reading those choose your own adventure books?

Do you want to gain Super Powers?

Well I recently found that link to my childhood that covers both.  Superpowered by James Schannep  covers it quite awesomely.  It is a choose your own adventure book about an ordinary person who can get super powers and as you would guess there are loads of options.

Like any choose your own adventure book there are lots of options some the end the book quite quickly and others that can take you down the long reading road.  As an avid reader, one that has spent many an hour of reading these choose your way books, I knew the short roads early on and I experimented with those first to see where they would lead.

Now normally when you have a paper book it gives you lots of turn to page such and such or turn to page over here, but the awesome thing with this, being an ebook is imbedded links that take you right to the correct section.  This format seriously speeds up the reading process.

Choose Your Own Adventure

When you get to a bad end in this super hero book it gives you a list of chapter headings, so if you paidsuper powers attention, you can go back to the last section and choose another path.  I found that extremely helpful to get to a more desirable finish.

When you do make it to the end where you wind up defeating the bad guy you get a sort of congratulations and are told of the 50 cool endings for each of the different super powers that you can obtain.  That means you have around 150 different endings or options that can possibly come out of this story.  I wonder how few of those can be counted as wins.  Looks like I have more reading to do.

So if you like books about super heroes, if you like books about gaining super powers of if you want to reminice super heroabout the days of yore and read a cool choose your own adventure book, I highly recommended picking up a copy of this book.  I have read only a 10th of the possible endings and I am excited to see where else the author will take me n this world.

Oh as a parting thought since I did not mention it earlier the ebook is only $1 so now you excuses are at an end.  Go get the ebook here!

Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!
