Board Games in Review – Quadrillion – Logic Game

Happy Monday, If it snowed in your area, I hope that you are not too buried to be enjoying your day. Well Since it is Monday it is time to bring you another board game review. If you missed last week I was talking about Smash Up Munckin.

Today i am going to talk about the game Quadrillion, by Smart Games. Now this is a double review because not only can this be a cool game to play, but if you are into Table top RPG’s this can be a resource for you as a Dungeon Master.

You want a puzzle to challenge you players with and are tired of all the same tropes and you have run out of resources. Why not Pick Up a copy of Quadrillion?

Test Your Brain Power with Quadrillion

Quadrillion is a Logic game where you are presented with 4 magnetic double sided game tiles with grooves designed to hold the specially created game pieces. Each game tile has spaces that will not allow a game piece to settle on it preventing you from putting a piece there. The object of the game is to place all the pieces down on the game board with all pieces fitting nicely with no pieces hanging over an edge.

I have played logic games and word games, I love to test my brain. fear not I am no genius, Some layouts only have one solution. Each side is a four by four square making an eight by eight grid to fit these 12 oddly shaped pieces into.

The game can be played in total solo style, make an arrangement and test your brain and your patience, having to start over and over again as you get to that last piece that does not fit. or you can go against other players. The rulebook does not explain how to do multi-player games but I have come up with some ideas.

Head to head. One player makes a board arrangement and the other player has to make a solution. Afterward you switch. Play three rounds see who gets the highest score. 100 points for each piece placed and 500 bonus points for a completed puzzle.

Piece by Piece challenge. All players work together collaboratively adding one piece at a time to work towards a solution. No scoring necessary as you all win or lose together.

You can play your own setup or try the prepared puzzles in the book with solutions. The book comes with 60 prepared puzzles in 5 difficulty levels. All the way from Starter to Wizard. Part of me wants to excel at this game just for the bragging rights of being a wizard.

Back to the idea of using this in your table top RPG game. It could be a wizards sequence trying to align a set of crystals. It could be the magic pattern that you have to align to make a magic item. It code be a computer program that you are trying to hack or a lock you are trying to break through.

However you want to use this game it is fun with hours and hours of enjoyment, possibly with some frustration but we all could work on tolerance and patience, right? So why not grab your own copy here.
