Board Games in Review – Batman Fluxx – Card Game
Happy Monday Fellow Nerdarchists and game lovers. Today Lets look at the Fluxx series by Looney Labs and their Super Crime fighting version of Batman Fluxx. I have been playing flux for a number of years. It is a great game to pull out when you have a few minutes or a few hours to kill. The games can go fast and are always fun and different.
If you have never played Fluxx, in any of its widely assorted versions, It is a simple to follow game that starts off with only drawing one card and playing one card. As cards are played you use strategy to accomplish a goal without another playing either changing the goal or fulfilling it before you can. There are over 20 different versions of Fluxx on the market each uniquely designed to give you the feel of the flavor of each deck.
How will You Stop the Crime Spree in Batman Fluxx?
Batman Fluxx certainly does that. With the creeper option that I believe started with the Radioactive Potato promo card that came out when 3.0 was the main set, creepers have taken off and really added a new mechanic to the game. Creepers really thrived in Zombie Fluxx. In Batman Fluxx the creepers re represented by the villains.
Each villain, while in play prevents anyone from winning while a villain is on the table unless the goal requires a villain which is a nice twist. It was before that the person with the creeper could not win unless the goal required that one card. With the villains totaling 9 cards out of 100 that is almost 10% of the deck making it very easy for them to come out and cause trouble.
It of course would not be Batman if the villains did not cause trouble. But All the heroes can defeat a villain each turn making it easy to knock them out getting you the win or stopping someone from winning the game. The new rule cards that are unique to each flavor deck really make you feel that you are in that verse. just as much as the creepers if not more so.
Your new rule cards that would be set in Gotham are a logo bonus which gets you extra cards if you are wearing the Bat logo on your person while playing. I love cards like that, it is just silly, which is why I love playing these games. You have a card called ‘crime happens’ which helps if you have a villain in play. You get the Arkham Asylum a place to lock up all those nasty villains. You also have cards with the name Elsewhere in Gotham and Egads.
So if you are looking for a stocking-stuffer for your bat-fan or even for a small treat for yourself this is a great game ready to play at a moments notice. So I am sending up the bat-signal to all those looking for a great low price game that can get you hours of fun play. Get your copy here.
As always thanks for reading and Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!
