DriveThruRPG Sponsors Nerdarchy and Saves You Money on RPG Stuff

Are Tabletop Games Destined To Go Digital?
Kickstarter Korner for Nov. 2017, Week 3

Nerdarchy is proud to announce a terrific sponsorship from DriveThruRPG – the largest RPG download store! Since 2001, DriveThruRPG has been a premiere online marketplace for digital and print-on-demand roleplaying games. Even more, the expanded family of sites makes comic books, card games, fiction and more available with ease. With DriveThruRPG as a sponsor, we can now pass along great deals to the Nerdarchy community.

Digital and physical RPG content

DriveThruRPG already has awesome deals on new and classic content for tons of roleplaying games. There’s so many deals, in fact, there’s an entire guide available so you don’t miss out. The sale guide details all the discounts on RPG content, highlights the latest content from publisher partners and showcases the Deal of the Day with huge savings for featured content. You can even filter search to find all the deals from a particular publisher. Seriously, there’s so many sales and deals going on all the time, it’s staggering.

Digital copies of material are readily available at the push of a button, but for those who like having physical copies there are print-on-demand services for lots of different titles. Not everything on the site includes this option by default, but the possibility exists.

“The capability is there for any book we sell to be made into a print-on-demand format, but it’s up to publishers to do so. Many publishers are proactive about it, offering their titles up in both digital and print, but others sell only digital versions on our store.” – Scott Holden, DriveThurRPG/RPG Now

Existing users may recognize Scott Holden’s name from the DriveThruRPG Newsletter, where “Notes from Scott’s Desk” keep subscribers up-to-date with the happenings at the site (including the free product of the week!). If you are looking for print-on-demand products, Scott explains that it will be very clear at a glance if a title is available for this service, or only in digital format, on the product description.

With so many ways to filter searches, it is super easy to find what you’re looking for or discover new stuff. You can search by rule system like Dungeons & Dragons, Cypher System or even OSR content; product type like bundles, core rulebooks or maps; genre; format; language; publisher; and price range. There’s even a button for free stuff, if you want to check out all the content you can add to your collection at no cost.

But what about the other sites in the DriveThruRPG family?

If you didn’t find the RPG stuff you were looking for at DriveThruRPG, there’s also RPG Now. Indie games have a home at this site, with the same structure of search filters and deals. Publishers like Green Ronin, Cubicle 7, Chaosium and Modiphius fill the digital shelves here, too. Along with DriveThruRPG there are thousands of publishers from the big names to the talented innovators of small press companies all at your fingertips.

Gamers into card games can get in on the deals too at DriveThruCards, a marketplace where designers and players connect. Custom printed to every order, many of the card games here include options for designers to create their own cards. Games like Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Ascension, The Spoils and Boss Monster let you browse community-created cards and create your own.

Dungeon Master’s Guild is also part of the DriveThurRPG family. D&D fans know this site very well as the marketplace where Adventurers League content resides. DM’s Guild boasts tons of content for D&D, not the least of which is 2017’s DM’s Guild Adept program featuring creators like Rich Lescouflair, Satine Phoenix, Ruty Rutenberg, James Introcaso, Monica Valentinelli and more.

Between games, you can check out DriveThruComics and DriveThruFiction. At the comics site (the first downloadable comic store on the web) there’s a wide selection of publishers and creators like IDW, Top Cow and Valiant Comics. In addition, there’s quite a few books and related material about comic books, such as Arrow and Superhero Television: Essays on Themes and Characters of the Series, A Tour of Fabletown: Patterns and Plots in Bill Willingham’s Fables and Captain America and the Struggle of the Superhero: Critical Essays.

At DriveThruFiction, an enormous selection of books are available for download. Search filters here give readers options to find titles based on genres like fantasy, mystery, romance or western; thematic bookshelves like award-winning titles, gay and lesbian literature, classics or staff favorites; product types like magazines, anthologies or short stories; publishers; authors; and price range. There are also featured titles through Untreed Reads, an organization focused on promoting ebooks with an emphasis on independent authors and publishers.
