Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition – Custom Race – Boarks

Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition - World Building - Gnar-Kee-Tis
Fast and Dirty Monsters - Ecology of the Skleee

Dungeons and DragonsNerdarchist Ted here and I get to present you an entirely new race created by Nerdarchy.  Over on YouTube we do a video series called Fast and Dirty Monsters.

We take an idea for a new monster and open up our Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition Monster Manual and show you how to take a thing that already exists and change it to match our creation.

You can jump below to watch the video of how we made these pig people.

Boarks in 5th edition

Boarks are a race of gluttonous pig people.  The term pig headed would most apply in more ways then one.  They are possessed of an tapped well of determination.  Once they are set upon a path they will not waver short of their own decision to alter their course.

They have a vast appetite and delight in trying new foods.  The more they know something is a delicacy the more they are interested in it.  Their focus on eating changes their perception, as a race, on status and beauty.  If you are scrawny and thin, it means that you do not eat as much as you want.  Therefore if 5th Editionyou are bigger you must be better.

Eating so much has also given them the ability shrug off what others find debilitating.  Diseases are not known to spread through a Boark society.

Custom Race – Boark

Boark Traits

Your Boark character has a variety of natural abilities.

Ability Score Increase.  Your Constitution Score increases by 2.  Your Strength Score also increases by 1.

Age.  Boark reach maturity rather quickly 8-10 years.  They typically live between 40-50 years.

Alignment.  Boark as a whole concern themselves with their own goals and are rarely concerned with outsiders unless they have something the Boark wants.   They tend toward neutral evil.  Player character Boark may be of any alignment.

Size.  Boark are around the same height of humans, 5-6 feet tall, though they are larger in girth.  Your size is medium.

Speed. You have a walking speed of 30.

Resilient.  The voracious appeitite has caused the race to adapt a metabolism that can shrug off many Custom Racethings able to stop an average race.  You have advantage on any save to save versus a disease

Relentless. If a Boark takes damage that would reduce  it to 0 hit points, it is reduced to 1 hit point instead.  This feature is reset after a long rest.

A nose for smells. You posses a nose built to finding things you want.  You have advantage on wisdom (perception) and (survival) rolls if it involves finding or noticing a pleasant or unpleasant smell.

Persistent. You are focused on your path and will not be forced away.  You have advantage on any saving throw against mind effecting ability.

So there you have it my rendition of Boark for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.

Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!

I'm glad you're back on this workshop, Ted!! You've done a great job here!! It's a race I definitely would like to taste, I mean, to try, well, you know…

Some time ago I brought the Ibixian (Goatfolk) from 3.5 to 5th, among other few races and I'm still working on. But hadn't had a chance to playtest 'em yet.
